    Khan is irrelevant

Khan is one of the most irrelevant boxers today that gets so much attention. He has no signature wins or dominance in any weight class. The most he can get credit is for the outing that he had against Maidana and that was a while ago already.

The only way that he would be relevant is that if by some miracle he beats Canelo but the odds of that are severely not in Khan's favor.

This mis-match is getting more attention than it deserves.

Canelo will not gain anything but a bigger bank account by beating Khan, and maybe getting exposure to the other side of the world.

This is a fight between two popular fighters, in no way this a super fight or two fighters in a collision course.

In one breath he's irrelevant, in the next he's a popular fighter. A popular fighter than can generate some good numbers. Seems pretty relevant to me.

It amazes me really, from the losses that have all gone unavenged, under performing in fights he was expected to shine in, it's mindboggling. So many WWs I'd favor to beat Khan too. I hope Canelo ends all this.

Irrelevant from a boxing standpoint. But I guess "he has a country behind him".

Khan will always be relevant. Its easier to just accept it, less painful for you.

From the moment he became the youngest olympic medalist since Floyd Patterson he was always going to be big. His rematch with Kindelan was one of the most watched sporting events of 2005. He has done a lot as a pro also:

Kotelnik, Malignaggi, Maidana, Judah, Collazo, Alexander, Algieri is a bunch of very good wins. A lot more than a lot of fighters who are thought of more highly.

Not to mention he is pretty exciting to watch most of the time, his fight with Maidana was a war.

He is going to be relevant until he retires.

You'd think after getting KO'd by Garcia and Prescott and struggling against ancient Diaz and Algieri, people would realize that Khan's just not that good.

You've felt the need to make a thread about him that adds to the other nine on the first page alone. Surely that suggests at least a smattering of relevance?

If he was the best welterweight in the world I wouldn't mind this fight so much but he's probably not even the 5th best, Pacquiao, Bradley, Garcia, Thurman all better, maybe he'd beat Shawn Porter probably not even Brook.

-Beats Canelo he becomes #P4P 1 in star power rankings, and #P4P Top 3 Globally.
-Loses to Canelo, he then walks straight into mandatory title shot versus the winner of Garcia v Peterson/Berto.
-Beats Garcia, he cements his position as P4P Top 10
-Loses to Garcia, he gets the larger purse versus Kell Brook, which Sky will be able to hype up in a matter of weeks.

If you think this is irrelevant, then you are the thickest poster on this forum!

I started to like Khan because he finally took a hard dangerous fight instead of a safe easy fight against a guy who couldn't break an egg. But in the very short time since the fight was announced Khan has done an incredible amount of bragging about how easily he is going to beat Canelo and make history. It is as if the fight was already over and Khan won it by a mile. It reminded me of why I disliked Khan in the first place. He is a huge bragger who thinks he is twice as good s he actually is. He is very disrespectful of other boxers. He always says he is so much better than they are and how easily he will defeat them. Canelo is bigger but he is also better. Canelo would KO Khan even if he was 10 pounds lighter than Khan. Canelo is just better and a higher class fighter than Khan. I doubt Canelo will lose even a single round and I doubt Khan survives more than a few rounds. Canelo has hand speed equal to Khan with much better accuracy and timing. He has a better defense and a chin of iron. Canelo is a great finisher. The first time he hurts Khan he will jump all over him and put him away and shut Khan's gigantic mouth for a little while.
