The beginning of the end for boxing at premium cable (Not really the beginning was that of a fight between Floyd & Manny), Showtime will go down fight , then HBO

Didn't realize the #s were that bad for that fight. Not including HBo PPV most of the fights HBo been putting on have been have been one of their marquee names against an extreme mismatch

In 10-11 months HBo has slipped from the premier boxing network and I don't see them getting that position back. That's why I find it crazy that so many people on here want the PBC to fail.

If HBO is not the premier network, who is?

The Matthysse-Postol card averaged 663,000 viewers. Pretty horrific as well.

I wonder if the Bradley & Matthysse cards had anything to do with Hershman leaving...

That's the nightmare scenario that has Arum/Oscar/Duva ****ting a brick (K2, say what you want about them, have actually done nothing to burn bridges outside of HBO); the moment that happens, Arum cashes out of boxing and Oscar likely relapses, tbh.

Showtime has made their bet, as is seemingly the case with the rest of the broadcasters in the PBC basket.

Why would Showtime/CBS ever do business after Top Rank ****ed them on a major deal for Pacquiao, Oscar ****ed them on a major deal with Alvarez, and Duva's lawsuit against them had a significant impact on Hopkins-Stevenson not being given the time to make a deal?

You add that Showtime is still delivering the fights that they want with Haymon (and the added mix of Greg Cohen Promotions and Haymon-affiliated promoters delivering fights) and Showtime's got no reason to open any doors to people who screwed them; Canelo Promotions (explicitly for the right to promote Alvarez's fights) may be able to secure something, but that's about it.

Basically (though the story that they spun to the press was that Oscar simply had "issues with alchohol")

Looks like Haymon is looking to box HBO in... bigtime.

                    2017 should be super intriguing!

HBO is failing because they don't build up their fighters anymore. The big push is GGG who is very suspect. Who else are they pushing??? Kovalev, maybe. The problem is they no longer have good opponents for their elite fighters to face. If Manny decides to keep fighting, who is left to match him up with? Crawford, that is it. If Bradley wins, who else is their to match him up with??? Crawford, that's it. If GGG doesn't fight Canelo, what legit fighter does HBO have signed for him to fight??? Canelo vs Khan...NOT COOL!!! Whether you like Al Haymon or not, he has all the key fighters to make great opponents for HBO's elite fighters.
Plus HBO commentating is trash. Lampley and Kellerman really makes it hard to watch at times. They are so biased that its sickening. The Cotto vs Canelo fight is a prime example. HBO truly needs to consider hiring a new crew. Ward, Jones and Hopkins are the only ones that truly call the fight as they see it. There always seem to be an agenda with Lampley.
