Beristein has never been a fan of Alvares' style or of Alvares. He also says Alvares doesn't belong on a top 10 p4p list.

Its really not that hard to understand. JMM was the mexican hero when he KO'd pacman. Since then he has ran away on top with one final win against meager Mike Alvarado (getting dropped in the process). Meanwhile, Canelo has replaced JMM as the bonafide mexican star and new star of the sport. Its a little something called jealousy.

What is good for the sport though?

May/Pac - Best vs. Best - boring fight/bad for sport
Canelo/Lara - Best vs. Best - boring fight/bad for sport
Rigo/Donaire - Best vs. Best - boring fight/bad for sport

Every time the best fight the best, it fails to connect with the mainstream. Compare the reaction from May/Pac to Canelo/Kirkland. Nobody gives a damn about the best in the division. The 19,000 out of the 20,000 in the new MGM arena on May 7th don't even know what weight divisions are.

Nacho's credibility was certainly hurt by this article. He thinks this is good and he thinks Cotto beat Alvarez?

          This fight ****ing blows.

im surprised he said he would gain credibility but not surprised he thought cotto won, him and marquez have never really liked canelo, theres a video on youtube thats very funny and nacho and marquez are on there basically bashing canelo and sulaiman defends canelo,, its in spanish and video is called " jose sulaiman defiende a canelo de juan manuel marquez"... its an old video, when canelo was going to challenge hatton but marquez brings up good points here

Nacho and Marquez always talk bad about Canelo, been that way since Canelo responded to their criticisms on live TV.

That makes this comment surprising. Beating Cotto, Trout and Lara isn't 'credible' but this is?

                  JMM & Nacho Are Drunks

Canelo isn't already credible? Like Khan has done anything credible since 2011, when he got KOd by Swift, and beat by Peterson? Canelo will blow up Khan who is there as a sacrificial lamb for the money. Khan couldn't withstand punching power at 140, fought scared against Algieri whom Pac dropped 6 times. Khan can only run and stay away from Canelo so long before he gets the same thing James Kirkland got! In the meantime, if Marquez isn't going to man up and fight, then I'd rather not hear from those pee drinking fools.

I usually agree with Nacho but right here it just seems like i cant. Regain credibility? Only a handful of people (for whatever reason) think cotto won. And now he thinks he can get credibility he thinks he lost by beating a glass chinned undersized loud mouth moron in Con?

I kinda understand where they're coming from. All this hype canelo is getting from what? Mediocre performances against trout and lara? I mean i give credit to canelo for dropping and beating trout in a kinda close fight. Then a really close unimpressive fight against Lara. I guess they feel they need to put pressure on the next big Mexican fighter. TBH im not really impressed with Canelo either.
