Bad idea. Speed is Khan's best chance at winning. He can muscle up all he wants, he's gonna be the lil guy in the ring that night. All that's gonna do is make him slower. And lessen the only advantage he has against Canelo.
Hopefully Khan's father is just trying to misdirect Canelo's camp because that would be a horrible idea. I'm sure they'll be working on improving Khan's stamina, utilizing angles and aspects of movement, etc. Theoretically Khan already has the speed needed to outbox Canelo.....whether or not he's able to remain elusive for the entire fight remains to be seen.

          I wonder...

A couple-few weeks ago I happened to see a pic of Khan at a basketball game about 20 miles from the little gym Ward/Hunter have in the Bay Area. Sure, cameras, lighting, angles, etc., have an effect on how people, look, but I saw that pic, thought, "Khan looks big."

So I wonder if this has been in the works for at least a little while.

And I assume that any weight gain will be done more via Hunter than by him. By the way, Ward has apparently worked with the guy who helped Jones Jr. get bigger, does a lot of work w. Serena Williams.

By coincidence, a couple years ago I ended up standing a couple feet from Khan, was surprised by his height -- and he doesn't have a rail-thin frame. It's not far-fetched to think of him being in good form at 155.

12 weeks is enough time to pack on muscle. the way i see it is that khan doesnt really need to make weight cuz he can add some muscle, keep his speed and walk into the fight at 165 which is probably his walking weight anyway. khan has the blueprint to defeat canelo a la mayweather and also similar tools but he doesnt not have the chin. floyds chin was solid granite and his ring iq second to none. khans balls are too big and i am sure he will get into a firefight with canelo which will lead to his downfall.
khan and canelo are two of my favorite fighters to watch. their styles always make for entertaining fights.

edit: if you guys dont believe me i will send over my workout chart and diet tips so that you too can put on 5 pounds of lean muscle in 12 weeks. 8-10 weeks is usually ideal for natural bodybuilding and then you take a couple of weeks off to recover and let the body heal.

This fight has Delahoya-Hopkins written all over it. Khan hangs in there for a few rounds before he decides to just take a knee and quit or have the corner stop it after he gets rocked s few times... His speed keeps him in it for about 2 rounds...then his chin takes him right out of it...

Hunter will be unavailable to train Khan as following the announcement of this fight, he was permanently disabled by a megaton facepalm.

To the Family of weird uncle Hunter, our thoughts are with you at this difficult time.

And what will Khan do then, drop back down to welter ?
I think he might try and remain at 154 but truthfully the heat is just as hot for Khan at 154 as it is at 147. Who know he may even try to stay at 160. Ironically I think he's safest at 160 cause them boys at 147 and 154 are hungry and they'll tear Khan's backside apart. 160 is a weaker division right now. If he can fill in over a year it might be his best bet.
