So basically kovalev's manager confirms what we already knew and Chickenson's team used that showtime joint venture bull**** to make it seem HBO didnt want the fight.

so tired of kovalev's ppl saying that haymon isnt doing wat is best for his fighter when they wont do wat is best for their fighter at a purse bid....everyone plays the same game, but haymon doesnt use media spin to promote THAT IS WAT I LIKE ABOUT HIM...bc this is fake AF to me..
if u are going to make 15 million dollar giving showtime 50% of that doesn hurt hbo bc hbo doesnt pull in 6million for regular kovalev fights..
hbo is playing risk reward games with us fans and negotiation in the media..
stevensons teams is the newcomers they need to make their money not just money for their fighter.
if u went to hbo and said we are going to make 15 million on showtime let us out of our contract for one fight...IT WOULDNT HAPPEN! ..
CONTRACTS ARE JUST AS STRONG AS MUTUAL AGREEMENTS WHEN YOU ARE LOYAL TO WHO IS LOYAL TO YOU...UNLIKE OSCAR WHO HAD A VERBAL WITH SHOWTIME BUT VAMPED ON IT!
HBO NEEDS TO CUT THE LIES AND DEAL WITH SHOWTIME FOR THE BETTERMENT OF BOXING...NO ENTITY DESERVES IT ALL UNTIL THEY HAVE EARNED IT!

300K buys? 4M gate?
Those numbers are pure fantasy.Stevenson would not end up making more than that 2M guarantee.

hbo wants the full fight and needs it to continue to provide boxing dates
they dont mind paying stevenson but they dont want to buddy to stevenson's ppl
if hbo would ocme out and say we will let haymon back on our network he might not say he wants showtime involved!
stop forgetting that hbo kicked him off but they wont kick off arum who has given us BS fight as of a late and a rematch coming up that no one wants to see

fans might be right..this fight is worth 2 million buys but sad to say it might do just as bad as kovalev vs ward is going to do...boxing is so unfair...
wwe have one promoter trying to push the sport without making profit and he is still hated, we have fans that dont like to pay for things worth paying for but will spend 60 bucks on a top rank rematch fest, and we have networks that odnt accept that competition could be over if you sit down like men instead using lampley and kellerman to push agendas on fans evoking racist bs and comment board topics that divide boxing fans that seem to never lead to the fights we want
so wat at least fortuna is going to knock uchiyama off

Originally posted by -Kev- View PostI disagree, the winner of Hopkins vs Kovalev should have fought Stevenson. 2013 was too early, both Kovalev and Stevenson had just blown up and got their first taste of fame. You don't make fights like that right away. Not saying they should marinate the hell out of it like Gamboa-Lopez, but not so fast either. I think now is the best time, but someone seems to be playing games, whether it's Duva/HBO or Haymon/Showtime, I don't know, both are blaming one another. But the fact is that Duva did withdrew from purse bid for the fight last year. I think that Ward vs Kovlev is the superior fight. Maybe the winner can fight Stevenson in a big unification fight with literally all the titles on the line.
