Comments Thread For: Duva Details 2016 For Kovalev, Fighting in Russia, Montreal Return

Sergey Kovalev hasn't been averse to fighting away from home.

The Russia-born light heavyweight has been in the United States from his earliest days as a pro, went to the United Kingdom to win his first world title, traveled to Quebec City to defend it and has fought two of his past three outings in Montreal.

I know it won't happen, because its just not the way boxing is right now. But I really wish they would try and match Kovalev against the Lebedev-Ramirez winner in a fight thia summer, especially if they're gonna try and fight in Russia. From a physical standpoint, Kovalev can fight as a cruiserweight. I think he'd be favored against either guy. And it would be a fight to look forward to opposed to just a stay busy fight while waiting for Ward in Nov.

That's a terrible idea unless the plan is get Kovalev beat or damaged before the Ward fight. Glad you're not a promoter.

It was funny watching Ward in the crowd for the Kov/Pascal fight. He looked like a kid who was punished and forced to watch the guy who his father is making him fight.

From what I gather Stevenson is willing to fight Kovalev for a 50/50 purse split.

It's just too bad that Daddy HBO won't let them.

Stevenson's stock has done nothing but drop since he left HBO and signed with Haymon. The only time his name is even mentioned is when they bring up Kovalev. Besides that he's completely irrelevant.
