@135 this wouldve been an epic fight! Duran was a beast and Mayweather a supreme talent at that particular weight...draw for me.

Floyd looked good against bums. Duran looked great against srl and hagler.

It's an example of Duran's lack of discipline.
Laing was very good on his day. If Floyd hadf 100 fights he'd have 10 losses. He's luckynot to have a few already. If he fought someone like hagler and srl and benitez he might have a few more.

Duran in prime against a prime Floyd would probably be at 140lbs!
Neither of them are at their best at 147 Duran would fare better because he has more punches to throw with conviction than Mayweather does.
Either way Duran is better than anyone Floyd fought and Duran would break Floyd down. Floyd doesn't have the power to keep Roberto honest, thats the main difference to me.
Floyds good defense would be preached by Durans high work rate and the angles he would employ when pressing him.
ATG Lightweight (135) against a very good junior lightweight (130).

A great fight at 135 but I think Duran was just too tough. At lightweight Roberto was a force of nature. He had some great fights when he moved up in weight but he wasn't the same fighter. Floyd decisions him at ww using his size and reach to smother Duran's offence.

Duran would have made it an inside fight...if the referee allowed him to do so.

Duran was a street fighter first who got very polished over the years, thanks to Freddy Brown and Ray Arcel. They really built him into a great fighter.

I'm sure Mayweather learned a lot from him as did many who have excelled in the sport.

And looking back on their careers, I can see Hearns, Leonard, Dejesus, Palomino and Benitez for sure all giving Mayweather problems and well, most likely beating him.

As far as Mayweather's resume, it's hard for me to picture anybody Mayweather fought beating Duran or really even coming close.

"Hands of Stone" easily beats Corrales, Castillo, Baldomir, Hatton, Maidana, Mosley(although Shane might have his moments), Judah, Gatti, Canelo, Guerrero and all the others. He was just too much for any of them.

Marquez and Pacquiao would make interesting fights for Duran, but I see him stopping Pacquiao and maybe even Marquez although I can see Marquez possibly lasting the distance.

And I agree with him. A counterpuncher like Mayweather must be fought on the inside. On the outside, he's very slick. A master technician like Duran would get him on those ropes and go to town on the body while creating openings upstairs.

In all honesty, I would like to see them fight, though. It could have gotten interesting, although I wonder if Floyd's corner would have stopped it once "Money" started eating lead.
