  • Should Golovkin Vacate and Put Pressure on Jacobs?

We all know that there is no reason a fighter the caliber of Gennady Golovkin should be fighting an undeveloped prospect like Dominic Wade. Wade is a DMV boy so I actually like the dude but even people back home know he isn't ready for this. This is the exact reason why many top fighters don't even pursue the IBF. They enforce wack mandos like this one.

The WBA is trying to salvage it's reputation but will not touch on the issue of Jacobs/GGG. Jacobs is content holding a minor title, hiding behind uncle Al and getting paid handsomely for easier fights.

Why doesn't Golovkin call him out on his bull****? Instead he's taking pics and smiling with the guy on some "We're all champions at heart' ****.

Props to Chris Mannix for pressuring the WBA to force this damn fight. But that is not enough. More media and team Golovkin need to join in and get this done.

    Enough is enough.

Nah. He's too close to unifying completely and even if he may not get Alvarez for the WBC, he'll get a chance at it regardless. If that happens, or the WBC lets Alvarez hide with his belt, then Golovkin should probably give up on unifying and go for something else.

Yeah the Wade fight sucks, but he's months from undisputed. Might as well see it out now.

What is Golovkin going to do when Haymon wins the IBF purse bid and plans to put the fight on a PBC telecast?

I really want Haymon to win a purse bid here, because the move Golovkin makes is going to be fascinating.

Jacobs doesn't want it and uncle Al won't let it happen

He can't fight off HBO. They've proven they won't allow it. I hope Al wins the purse bid because this fight sucks.

I'd rather stop recognizing the IBF as a major title.

Jacob's said he wants to fight BJS for the WBO, and the WBO won't allow someone with WBA regular title to unify - in other words he's looking to drop that belt.

And what sense would it make to vacate the IBF for Wade? Golovkin could KO Wade in April and be 100% ready for Jacobs a week later. Besides that, I think Jacobs is going to have to fight Blanco before he's mandated to fight Golovkin. Originally the WBA mandated Jacobs/Eubank next, but Eubank is fighting Blackwell in March.

With Jacobs/Quillin being a $3mill purse, that's probably $150k the WBA made. They aren't in a hurry to give up that massive sanctioning fee in addition to Golovkin's typical $2mill purses (another $100k if they're set at a 5% sanctioning fee).

Ummm Im not a fan of either guy but you would be a fool to think Golovkin isnt content fighting people like Wade on HBO while making a buncha money too....

You dont think at the end of the day he doesnt go home like, "God damn this easy money feels good" while telling the media how he wants the best (not saying he doesnt).

Of course he's content. But at least he has a real title to defend.
