He's not an elite fighter, never has been and never will be. I think he reached his best around 2010-2011 anyway. He's never had the talent to be one of the top few p4p, but most don't. He's still a good world level fighter.
He has great hand speed and combinations, which are going to start slowing down eventually, then what's he left with? No great power, not much of a defence, average footwork, a low ring IQ, no inside game and not much of a chin.
- He is a wasted talent. Doesnt have a strong chin, but he has great hand speed and punches in combination. By him not being active..and just waiting to get a pay day againts PBF..will do him in. He needs to stay active he cant sit around, if he were to fight Garcia again, Garcia would clean his clock again. He still leaves himself open after exchanges.
If Khan learnt to relax and choose when he punches, but he worked on protecting himself from a left hook which seems to land so easily, he could have been better.
However he is not a boxer. He does too many things such as going facebook headquarters, pakistan meeting famous politicians and charity work etc...
The guy is a unified champion with wins over Judah, Maidana, Malignaggi, Kotelnik, Alexander and arguably Peterson to, with both Bradley and JMM openly refusing to fight him and in a few months, may become a two weight champion by beating either Garcia or Brook, both of whom are well ranked fighters in his chosen division.
At 28 years of age, he's done more than most fighters of his generation.
tim bradley jumped ship to top rank and fought manny pacquiao 3 times on ppv. khan was with GBP at the time, and the two promotors weren't having their guys fight. at the very best bradley would make 1-2 million on regular HBO or showtime to fight khan.
bradley made the better move, and he had the better career in the end. you can't call that a duck. the guy got a fight with manny pacquiao, FFS, and two rematches. made 5 million in the first fight alone.
