Ive got a few points on this topic as me and my friends hav been callin for this fight for about 2 years now...
First compare the records with both fighters Hatton W 41 (30 ko's)has never fought a HIGHLY skilled fighter..hes fought Hard punchers in Kostya Tszyu, strong never say die fighter in Ben Tackie, Southpaws in McGee and Collazo but he has never fought a HIGHLY SKILLED,HAST,STRONG,BOX-PUNCHER like a Floyd Mayweather
FLOYD MAYWEATHER has fought never say die-fight to death warriors like Emanuel Augustus, fought bigger stronger men like a Jose Luis Castillo and Diego Corrales and Phillip N'dou destroyed men like Gatti,Corrales Angel, Floyd is new-ish to the weight altough he seems to hav found his comport level by whooping on Zab.. ricky is known to cut, floyd is known to hav his hands broke, the difference his, floyd has been hurt in fights and had hard times, rickys really only worried about cuts, whats gonna happen when someone takes his shots then takes his heart, u cant defend against floyds handspeed....floyd in a UD or if he gets Hatton in the type of trouble Luis Collazo had him in, in the 12th round floyd on K.OComment

the only thing that floyd will get from hitting is points. he is so feather fisted its rediculous. i dont really see him hurt hatton no matter how many times he hits him, (which will be a lot) and also floyd got sat down by one of zabs love taps so.............................Comment

Floyd demolished Augustus, that was a bona fide turkey carving on display. Burton got a heavy tattooing.
because mayweather wore him down in the early rounds. i dont think u can argue that the first 4 rounds were some of the toughest rounds for mayweather, because no matter how hard or how fast he hit augustus, augusts kept comin at him.Comment

Hatton would be a walking right into 3, 4 , 5 hit combinations.
... yet he still won rounds. Why do u think that is? He would walk in, take the shots, and land a hard body shot or a hard left to the face. Hatton is one of the few fighters who just doesnt care if he gets knocked around. he is willing to take huge punches to give small punches.
Some see this as a bad trait, but its one of his best traits. If his opponent can Pound away at hatton for 12 rounds, and all they see is hatton walking into him again and again, not only is it EXTREMELY discouraging, but it wears a fighter down. This opens clears doors for hatton to get a KO in the later rounds, which we have seen SO many times before.Comment

Let Floyd talk all he wants; but the fact is Ricky Hatton is the one man with the best chance to beat him. Styles make fights.
Floyd is highly skilled, and if Hatton is truly a C-class bum, then Floyd needs to prove it. There are no names at 140 bigger than Hatton, and no fight in higher demand in that class.
So long as Floyd FIGHTS DLH, Hatton, or Margarito, I don't care what he says, even if it is a crock a ****.Comment

Originally posted by Bloodshit! Can we discuss Hatton-Mayweather in terms of technique rather than just "Hatton's a bum, he'll get KTFO, LMAO", please?
For example, thirteen pages in and I still haven't seen discussion of the following:
1. Collazo being a significantly larger man than Floyd... Floyd is fighting out of his natural division like Hatton, and isn't a big hitter at the 147 weight. While Collazo isn't a "puncher" in his division, just compare Judah's last two fights for an example of Floyd vs. a natural 147lber in terms of punching power.
2. Hatton has trouble with southpaws. The speed, the size, the power... that's all to be determined by future fights at the weight. For now, the only thing we do know is that Hatton is subseptible to being hit out of the southpaw stance (his only pro KD coming from one). If Floyd gets troubled by Hatton we know he can switch to a southpaw style... discuss.
3. "Floyd will beat Hatton like he did Gatti". This statement is getting so boring it's not even funny. I'm not even a Hatton fan but if you think he's the same level as Arturo - with all due respect to Arturo - you need to watch some more Hatton fights.
1. I like ur point here. collazo is a nutural welterweight and a southpaw. While Mayweather fought a southpaw in judah, mayweather has the ability to run away and reset, giving him more time to adjust to the southpaw stance. the only time hatton runs away is when he is hurt.
2.Mayweather is very ambedextrious (however u say it) and can switch it up if he is in trouble. only problem is, is that mayweather is very small. correct me if im wrong here, but i believe he is smaller then hatton. but it doesnt matter, mayweather is significantly smaller then collazo, giving hatton more power then he really has... if u know what i mean...
3.I agree. I think hatton would be able to embarrass gatti the way mayweather and DLH did. I love gatti, but if u think Hatton isnt better, ur crazy.
And another think i would like to point out is that Mayweather has a good defense and runs around the ring a lot. I personally believe that what makes mayweather so good, is that he can wear people down by making them chase after him.
There is no denying that hatton has awsome stamina and some of the best conditioning in the sport. There is no way Mayweather wears him out by running around, so there is no way hatton gets KOed. If mayweather couldnt KO judah, there is no chance in hell that he could KO hatton, he has a jaw of freakin steel.
Another think mayweather is known for is that amazing shoulder roll he has. NOT going to work against hatton. Hatton would simply clinch him (part of the ****ing game people) or pressure him into a corner and smash his shoulders and chest.
Again, hatton doesnt care if he gets punched a lot, so the countering syle of mayweather isnt going to be as effective agaisnt hatton.
Im not saying hatton would win, but im not saying mayweather would win either. i think they both have an equal chance of winning the fight. But no matter what, when do get to see these two great fighters go at, it'll be a war and a great war at that.Last edited by Kball15; 06-04-2006, 04:26 PM.Comment

where did he say this?
and i dont think he's ready yet either. he clearly hasnt adjusted to the weight, but i think it was mostly an issue with southpaws. He needs 2 more fights in the US, 1 at 140 against carrales and 1 at 147 against gatti or boldamir, before he should fight mayweather.
he'll be ready within a year to a year and a halfComment
