it doesn't guarantee more buys and why would hbo agree to the same structure? They made their offer based on profit projected vs purses guaranteed.
it works both ways. if kovalev didn't have the exclusive deal with hbo and showtime made this offer and duva said she wanted hbo involved for what they had done for kovalevs career you would be bashing herComment

those are ppv fights in canada and have nothing to do with showtime or cbs. they don't get any of that ppv money. if they were so worried about how much showtime had invested, when adonis fought on Spike whey didn't they throw a fit and demand that showtime/cbs gets a cut????? My point exactly. They did a one off then and they can do one now.Because Showtime/CBS stepped up and made the financial commitment to Stevenson, has been the home to three of Stevenson's last four fights, and will likely be the home to Stevenson's next two fights (Stevenson-Alvarez and Stevenson-Fonfara 2 are both 80/20 PPV fights in Canada for Stevenson, with Showtime having the US rights).
Only difference is that GYM/Stevenson weren't willing to kill the fight over the insistence that Showtime be involved; you even mention some other TV partner possibly coming aboard and Main Events throws a ***** fit.Comment

This fight was never happening in June. As soon as they announced that mandatory as Stevenson's back-up plan, it was clear this fight wasn't going down. I forget his name but I caught his last fight and he's no easy task. That's the back-up plan? More like the only option. And that's because on the other side it makes no sense for Main Events to make this fight. You've got a nice nest at HBO and a potential big fight later this year against Ward. Thought there was some contractual agreement involving Kovalev-Ward?Comment
