Comments Thread For: Stevenson's Promoter Explains Efforts To Make Kovalev Fight

On the surface, the latest round of talks between World light heavyweight champion Adonis Stevenson and unbeaten, unified light heavyweight titlist Sergey Kovalev ended in familiar fashion – no super fight to show for their efforts.

I don't get it. If they like the deal why would they even go to Showtime?. They know that deal with structure for HBO to get there' certain profit. bringing in showtime what only cut HBO's profit and add nothing to the pie. It's a one off fight there is no reason to bring showtime in. They had a good relationship with HBO to and I don't see them trying to include HBO in their other deals. They could just do this fight on HBO and then win or lose go back to showtime or PBC

To me that says They never really wanted to fight or just didn't like the deal

Duva says Kovalev is the "a-side" but he can't sell 5 tickets anywhere.

With Stevenson unwillingness to fight bhop, kovalev and Pascal it was obvious this fight isn't going to take place

Didn't Hopkins leave Showtime and go to HBO to fight Kovalev in order for Main Events to drop the lawsuit? So how did Stevenson duck Hopkins?

So HBO won't do anymore joint PPV's with Showtime. Aren't PPV's all profit for the networks?
