Leon says otherwise;
Speaking directly to BadCulture.net, Margules shot down the rumors.
“That is totally not true, I don’t know where that rumor came from,” said Margules. “There was a BOUNCE TV show that aired recently and Marshall Kauffman (promoter based out of Philadelphia) was able to procure a casino deal in Naples for the event so we went that route to save money.”
“Since this is the first PBC show in Florida I wasn’t the main promoter for, the rumors start,” Margules continued. “It’s just the haters trying to stir the pot.”
“Al and I are friends, I am a PBC private promoter. I do PBC events and I’m looking forward to doing more.”
If Warriors is in fact cut from the PBC brand, the relationship likely grew less than amicable after Bad Dog Productions filed suit against Haymon and Warriors Boxing in Miami last year, contending that they interfered with the promotional contract Bad Dog had with junior lightweight Rances Barthelemy. The suit ultimately settled out of court as reported by ESPN.com.
“The lawsuit filed in Miami by Bad Dog Productions against Warriors Boxing and Promotions, et al., has reached an amicable settlement through which Bad Dog assigned all of its promotional rights concerning Rances Barthelemy to Warriors in exchange for a payment by Warriors. The terms of the settlement are confidential,” Fors said.
Warriors Boxing recently acted as a co-promoter for the Wilder vs. Szpilka card and is home to new IBF champion Charles Martin and former featherweight champion Nicholas Walters.
