I say he's already validated and doesn't need Canelo or anyone else to prove it.
yes i agree, i believe at this point he might not be fighting for the supremacy but for the superstardum, something that likely only Canelo can give him.

We all know Groves has power. He showed it on numerous occasions. If Golovkin says he didn't feel Groves power it's either because he has a all time great chin, he is lying or Groves had a bad day in the gym and couldn't land anything significant.

I don't know which is true but i know Groves has some good power.

He lost everything after being knocked cold by Froch.

Everything after that moment looked loose, his punches, his defence, his whole game really. It very much looks like that KO took all his confidence and he is now scared to fully commit.

Oh I totally understand that and don't fault him for it. Its just like when Floyd was fighting DLH and Hatton when the welterweight division probably offered better quality match-ups. Canelo is the biggest money fight in his weight range.

My only beef with him, and his fanbase is that them using not only Canelo, but title unification as an excuse to kinda put his career on hold. Its not against the rules ti take quality fights while he's waiting on Canelo. I also have an issue with him chasing guys like Billy Joe Saunders. Nobody in their right mind sees Saunders as a threat to GGG's supremacy at middleweight. Billy Joe Saunders isn't an excuse to seek top fighters at or around your division. I just wish GGG would make a play for a better fight in Apr. I suggested Degale. A lotta people are saying Lara. And if he can't get Billy Joe or Jacobs, who's bettet. Than Degale or Lara at 60 to make a play for? And if politics block those fights from happening, so be it. At least he tried. At least that's how I feel.

Interesting to hear what Golovkin has to say there. I liked that story.

On the point of Groves's power, i felt there was a stage when he fell in love with his power a little too much.
Now, maybe he has lost his belief in it a little, as his confidence has taken a knock.

It will be interesting to see how he gets on with McGuigan.

GGG would make the 168 lbs class of fighters look like the 160 lbs bums he's been beating up. They all turn into bums once he runs through them. Truth be told, SMW looks like garbage enough on it's own without GGG's help.

I dunno. I think he just did Groves. I would think you'd approve that kind of action.
