Comments Thread For: Golovkin Reflects on Groves Sparring, Says He Lacks Power

Gennady Golovkin believes George Groves remains capable of winning a world title - as long as he can rediscover the aggression and power he used to show.

The super-middleweight on Saturday begins rebuilding his career against Andrea Di Luisa at London's Copper Box Arena in his first outing since his third unsuccessful world-title fight, against Badou Jack in September.

I think it was Groves' first spar after the Froch KO loss. Should probably be taken into consideration.

But coming up, Groves was known as a strong puncher , a very sharp puncher. He definitely didn't show that at any stage under Fitzpatrick bar the first fight with Froch where Groves pretty much trained himself.

Should be interesting to see what happens under Mcguigan and see if he rediscovers his power.

GGG has become one of those semi-mythical gym legends kinda like Pacquaio and James Toney. With all the gym tales of beating up this guy or beating up that guy.

And here's another where he claims that a currently top 5 super middleweight can't punch. Another is where he made a guy that's currently the top rated light heavyweight in the world quit. And that's why its even more mind boggling that he won't move up in weight. Especially with the situation he currently finds himself in in regards to his next fight.

Groves decked Froch, who isn't exactly the easiest man in the world to put down, and he knocked Paul Smith spark out with one punch in an earlier fight.

But he did seem to lose something after splitting with Adam Booth. Maybe McGuigan can help him get it back.

That's what I'm saying. He just never looked sharp under Paddy.
