That's a fact. Unless Ward-Kovalev is on HBO and not PPV.If I had asked you before sat night which of the 4 would get higher ratings, anyone with half a brain would've put boxing last.
You are acting as if boxing should have finished above these 3.
Look dude, 2.5 mil people watched the show overall and 3.39 mil watched danny/ghost at some point. I don't see how this is anything but positive, especially after Wilder had such a disappointing number.
You just come off as upset that no HBO card this year will have 2.5 mil people watch it.Comment

1.8mil viewers on prime time NBC is a good thing? And none of the purses on PBC have been low. Thurman vs Porter was supposed to be on this date but was moved because they couldn't afford it.(1) I don't see how anyone could think that Omar Figueroa doing 1.8 million in views is a bad thing. He isn't very well known for that TV spot at all. I'm a fan of the guy but I would never expect him to fight in that slot. I'd be curious to see what the purses were for that card. They were likely really low.
(2) If you go to the PBC website the 3/12 fight is clearly being marketed by PBC through all of their platforms; FB, Twitter, IG, etc. (unlike like any of the fights that were done on showtime). I'm not sure if that ESPN article is entirely accurate (wouldn't be the first time) This tells me that CBS/Showtime wanted to produce the fight themselves in an effort to co-brand the showbox series that has been declining in ratings since PBC started. The purses for this fight will likely be 1.5 - 2 million apiece. It doesn't matter who the put on the undercard at all. Not so sure this is signally some financial crisis at all. Especially, considering how much they claim Haymon has to invest in the project. If anything it looks like Espinoza is saying, "Throw me a bone," to Haymon on this one.
And I already posted a link with not just ESPN but the head of showtime saying this is a Showtime produced fight NOT PBC. Even the press release to the media specifically stated this fight will be branded "Showtime on CBS" no mention of PBC. I could care less what you believe or what is on the PBC website. This is a Showtime fight. Just like Jacobs vs Quillin featured no PBC logo what so ever because if Showtime is paying for it they want their brand name one it.Comment

No they ARE losing because they are flushing hundreds of millions down the toilet and getting crap ratings and can't afford to pay for their best fighters to fight each other. The 2 biggest fights that were EVER announced by PBC did not ultimately go to PBC. And if that was the plan they would never of released to the press that these were PBC fights. To act like there is no correlation between the bad ratings and reports of the alarming amount of money they are losing and then the 180 shift of these fights NOT going to PBC is foolish. Clearly this is a shift or Plan B from Haymon because the money they are losing is in the millions EACH card they put out. So how is PBC building or "winning" when the big fights that you PBC fans talk about and brag about don't even end up on PBC? If you are a casual fan and actually watch this fight how does that help PBC? It doesn't it helps showtime but does nothing to improve the brand of PBC.
You specifically have complained that once they put on the better and more competitve fights with Haymon's best fighters the ratings will turn around. But you don't see the irony that they are losing too much money and can't afford to put those fights under PBC. So how is Haymon going to turn the ratings around?Comment

And this will be on "Showtime on CBS". Go read the press release with Espinoza's quotes. This fight will not PBC. This is a Showtime brand fight. Nothing to do with PBC. Even Al Bernstein who calls Showtime fights exclusively came out and said he's excited to be a part of the fight. Sorry I'll take the word of the Head of Showtime who says they are producing this fight and the man who Fing calls Showtime fights. And it's not a huge issue to me it's you PBC fanboys who clearly have a problem with this fight not being a PBC fight that's why you guys are really trying to debate something when in the press release it states this is Showtime and makes no mention of PBC.Last edited by bigdunny1; 01-28-2016, 03:47 PM.Comment

well they should get thing straightened out cause this banner says other wise.. and the fight is on the pbc website, none of the showtime fights were promoted by pbc onlineAnd this will be on "Showtime on CBS". Bernstein did not work any of the PBC on CBS fights. And neither did Showtime everything was under the PBC umbrella. Showtime owns this fight and will produce it with their team it has nothing to do with PBC. It could of... maybe if they weren't losing so much money on PBC events this would be a PBC brand fight. For weeks EVERYONE assumed this was a PBC fight my guess is that include people who work for PBC. Clearly last minute that changed because Showtime came out of nowhere and said this is our fight on Sat. Maybe PBC in addition to not being able to pay for this fight they can't pay the guys who build banners to throw the old one away and buy a new one. Don't know don't care

Although Thurman and Porter have had their recent fights on Premier Boxing Champions cards, which their adviser, Al Haymon, has bought time for on a variety of networks, including CBS, this fight will not carry PBC branding. Instead, it will be branded as "Showtime Championship Boxing on CBS." CBS is the parent company of Showtime, which will produce the telecast.
Showtime Sports vice president and general manager Stephen Espinoza said. "Fights of this caliber don't come along very often, and when they do, they deserve to be on the biggest stage possible. That's why all of us at Showtime and CBS are so excited to be able to deliver this pivotal matchup to a prime-time audience on America's highest-rated network."Comment

Al puts this card on CBS. It gets paid for. The hope is the larger audience tunes in and then when either fights again they tune in then as well. So if the exposure on CBS helps build either individually, and that pays off down the road when they are on a PBC card, which is good for boxing fans.No they ARE losing because they are flushing hundreds of millions down the toilet and getting crap ratings and can't afford to pay for their best fighters to fight each other. Either way you seem more concerned about the banner the fight is promoted under rather than the actual fight. Whether its showtime on CBS or PBC, I expect more people will tune in then will tune into an HBO card this year-which is why you are so upset.Comment
