That's a lot of money for Guerrero, considering where he is at right now. Al Haymon is serious about paying his fighters high checks.

these guys were just at the right place at the right time. after the pbc goes under they will have to go back to earning big pay days with big fights.

I made an edit so if you look at other fight purses it's on par. And the Bradley vs Rios fight was empty

I'm really surprised Guerrero is getting that much.

Guerrero and his camp seem to understand that his time is almost up, and fighting Danny "Swift" Garcia is a matchup that will basically end his time, depending on how he performs. You add that it's a bout, on primetime TV and in California, in the main event and Guerrero was going to get paid. $1.2m is a bit more than I thought, but that's the cost of doing business.

If the fight goes the way that most people seem to expect (good fight early, but Garcia's power and ability simply being too much for Guerrero, stopping him after the mid rounds), Guerrero is basically down to having the step-up fight for Vasquez/Spence as the last really big fight for his career (Guerrero vs Lopez is a good enough fight, that should do good business in California, but it's not a big enough fight to command major TV money).
