I don't know... Maybe you ask him. Maybe he will let them -- starting with Stevenson.

Jacobs has been KO'd by Pirog. And was recently dropped by Sergio Mora. SERGIO FREAK'N MORA!!!!!! So I don't like his chances of staying upright against the hardest puncher in the division for too long either. At least Lara is an exceptional defensive fighter.

Instead we can cry about fights between cross promoters on different networks not getting made while Jacobs and Lara fight stiffs next time out.
This isn't about them. Its about GGG needing an Apr opponent. Lara is the best fighter willing to fight him. If it can't be made, so be it. But why not try???

        • Johnson is out. Where does GGG go now?

SO no Johnson, no Saunders, no Jacobs and no Canelo.

WHy is he not entertaining a fight at 168?

Which was exactly my question which was met by 1000 reasons why he shouldn't. Especially from an unnamed cat that said Roy Jones never fought a 12 rounder at middleweight. And his career spanned 68 and 75.

GGG has 20+ straight KO victories. Strong chin, medium chin, glass chin or weak chin, all risk the same fate.

At least with jacobs, he also has the capability of shutting GGG's lights off as well. Whereas with Lara, the only lights Lara will shut off is by putting GGG to sleep via running and boredom.

That's my take. At least try to get Lara ... make a reasonable offer, explore the possibility at least. HBO might say no, Haymon might say no, Lara might overprice himself... but at least make the attempt. There really ain't any credible opponents left at 160 for GGG, but I can get the reluctance to go for a SMW opponent whilst the Canelo fight - likely at a CW - remains at least a theoretical possibility.

I've personally witnessed guys like Tito Trinidad and Mike Tyson that had the kinda power that not even the most iron chinned foe was safe against. I've also seen guys like Julian Jackson, Tommy Hearns, and older guys like Foreman and Joe Louis that just had that game changing, once in a generation type power. GGG doesn't strike me as one of those guys. He's a good puncher. A very good puncher. But to me he's not a guy that you're afraid that if you make a mistake, he's gonna put your lights out. He's more of an accumulation guy.

As for your assessment of Lara and Jacobs when as it pertains to opponents for GGG. Boxing isn't all about power homie. There's a reason why generally, the top of the is usually littered with guys that aren't big punchers. A great boxer generally beats a great puncher. I think GGG-Lara would cpme down to a very good big man beating a very good little man. But at the same time, Lara brings a helluva lot more to the table for GGG to worry about than Jacobs. Its not even close.

Going up a full weightclass within 3 months and having to drop to 155 a couple months later to fight Canelo surely sounds healthy right?

                      Shake my head, these fans.
