I think more people would rather see Lara than Jacobs.

Actually most people would like to see Ward but that's impossible and I'm glad both moved on. I would love to see Lara fight GGG but I don't see that fight happening as a voluntary because of HBO, Haymon, politics and all that. I don't see Jacobs vs. GGG happening either for the same reasons unless it's a mandatory.

You want to see a fight between Lara and Andrade that you know will be crap? And you think K2 will see that dreadful fight, and say, "That's the guy we want GGG with! What a way to setup a fight!"


All of Golovkin's opponents fought low tier crap before facing him. K2/GGG still sought after Martin Murray even though he fought absolute crap for two straight years, not to mention looked like absolute crap for two straight years. Sure he had a close fight with Martinez, but that shouldn't matter according to you because it was such a long time ago!

You act like people have the memory of a goldfish and are incapable of remembering accomplishments and performances past a few months.

Lara is currently the #1 JMW. Check any rankings. Not in the past. Right fucking now. The hell if a fight between the two #1 fighters from divisions next to each other isn't intriguing. Beating some random fringe MWs (like most of GGG's opposition have been doing) is not going to make any difference whatsoever in the marketability of the fight.

I want to see Lara/Andrade because it's two top LMWs who aren't doing anything currently and would challenge each other. The Donaire/Rigo style match-up wasn't entertaining on paper nor in the ring, but it still happened on the strength of them two top SBWs. Yes, the stalker vs. boxer/cat and mouse game between GGG and Lara would be more entertaining. Lara/Andrade probably won't be entertaining, but I doubt Lara beating on the likes of Zaveck/Rodriguez is going to excite HBO/K2.

Lara is only #1 because Canelo left. Lara is not the clear #1 JMW to me, just like GGG isn't a clear #1 without beating all the other titlists. Boxers are supposed to prove their rank in the ring, right? Lara can't even be bothered to face top LMWs anymore nor move up to MW, but I'm supposed to be calling for GGG/Lara? It's one of the most discussed match-ups on NSB yet the chances of happening are slim to none. I get that the fighter only has so control, but Lara hasn't done everything in his power to position himself as the best option (after Canelo, of course). I understand Lara's current position: he's milking the controversy from the Canelo fight because he couldn't get the W in the ring. All I can expect from GGG is to face MW titlists and contenders, while others expect him to live up to the constantly-quoted line of fighting "everyone from 154-168".

We've had a similar discussion regarding this match-up, and nothing has happened since that will change my perception of GGG/Lara. Have we even heard any rumors about Haymon/HBO mending the fences and working with each other?

HBO might be interested, but Haymon no. Haymon would weaken his PBC project even in the case he lets his fighters appear too much on Sho. So, letting his stable on HBO would actually sink PBC.

Why doesn't Lara fight Jacobs then? Both have nothing scheduled for the spring as far as we know...both with Haymon....should be an easy fight to make IMO...winner is mandatory to GGG WBA super title.

Instead we can cry about fights between cross promoters on different networks not getting made while Jacobs and Lara fight stiffs next time out.
