Comments Thread For: Abel Sanchez: Beating Andre Ward Puts Barrera on Kovalev's Level

Kovalev wants to fight Ward after he beats Pascal, that's not really a bad idea, but Ward needs to make up his mind. I'd rather see Ward against someone like Chilemba or Fonfara.Comment

sanchez and kovalev don't get along. sanchez dropped him from his stable and kicked him out of the gym after 7-8 fights. kovalev debuted under sanchez, IIRC.
sanchez is crazy if he thinks ward beating one up and comer puts him on the level with the guy that got on the p4p list off of his wins and dominance at 175.Comment

Fk me.
So, Team Golovkin sent Ward off to sharpen up his resume ?
SMH
Why type **** like that ?
That is totally ridiculous.
You just CLEARLY admitted that they ducked Ward.
* " offered to fight at 164 "
* " sent Ward to go and win a couple of significant fights "
Listen to how that rubbish conflicts with Sanchez' take on Ward
What the *** is up with you guys ?
Listen, if a poster made those same comments about ANY TWO FIGHTERS IN THE WORLD, they would be called a ducker.
If Stevenson " offered to fight (Kovalev) at cw "..... then sent Kovalev off to sharpen up his resume..... everyone would laugh their head off...... but you actually gave those two silly excuses as genuine reasons to avoid Ward..... laughable.Comment

That is not what happened, and you know it.
That notion is clearly ridiculous, what the fk are you guys on ?
When he was inactive, HBO asked Ward/Golovkin if they were ready to fight NOW..... Ward replied that he needed a tuneup..... then, IMMEDIATELY after the Smith fight Ward approached Team Hypekin, and what did they do?..... they made a huge pile of ridiculous excuses AND they demanded a catchweight..... Ward approached them again in September and they refused the offer in 25 minutes flat (meaning, that they didn't even read it).
Your spin..... is rubbish.
Here, I have a timeline, hope it helps.....
======================================
First it was, " Golovkin: I'll fight anyone at 154, 160, 168 "
http://espn.go.com/blog/new-york/box...-at-154160-168
Then Andre Ward announced his comeback.
So it became, " Golovkin: I'll fight anyone at 154, 160, 164 "
Promoter Tom Loeffler of K2 Promotions, who handle IBO/WBA middleweight champion Gennady "GGG" Golovkin (33-0, 30 KOs), says a fight can certainly be worked out with WBA super middleweight king Andre Ward (28-0, 15 KOs). But the deal would have to be under Golovkin's terms and not dictated by Ward. Loeffler feels Golovkin has surpassed Ward as a ticket seller and in terms of name recognition - making GGG the A-side of the negotiations.
Then Ward said that he would consider a catchweight.
So it became, " Golovkin: I'll fight anyone at 154, 160 "

Then Cotto/Canelo both insisted upon a catchweight.
So now it is, " Gennady Golovkin eyes unification at middleweight "
WBA,WBC, and IBF middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin said he wants to fight the winner of November’s bout between Miguel Cotto and Saul “Canelo” Alvarez.
Then Ward moved to LHW.
So NOW it is, " Golovkin Will Go Anywhere To Face Carl Froch! "
WBA/IBO/IBF middleweight champion Gennady "GGG" Golovkin (34-0, 31KOs) is still very interested in facing Carl Froch, according to the champion's head trainer Abel Sanchez. Froch (33-2, 24KOs) has been inactive since his big rematch win in May 2014, when he knocked out George Groves before a crowd of 80,000 fans.
======================================
Golovkin used to fight in the " anyone from 154-168 " division.
Now he fights in the " anyone from 159-161, except Lara " division.
THAT is called, failing to back up your ****, just saying.....
And btw, Barrera/Kovalev > Golovkin.
The notion that you think Ward ducked Golovkin, when exactly the opposite happened, is highly amusing to me.
Clearly one of us is a bit clueless

Whatever... But read this one carefully:
Mandalay Bay, Las Vegas - Abel Sanchez, trainer of WBA/IBO middleweight champion Gennady 'GGG' Golovkin, has made it absolutely clear that he's not going to budge from his position that a potential fight with Andre Ward will only happen if Ward - the recognized champion at super middleweight - is wiling to meet them halfway at a catch-weight of 164-pounds. Golovkin and his team received more than their fair share of heat in recent days, after placing a catch-weight demand on a potential fight with Ward. The reason for the heat, is because Golovkin was willing to fight both Carl Froch and Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. at the full super middleweight limit.
It's from July 23 2015...
They offered the 164 fight and, as Ward didn't agree, they sent him to get "a few good wins" and come back after he would have got "the buzz going again"...
What Ward did you know already: he was after the likes of Murdock, Brand, Periban (?), all supermiddleweiths of some sort... He fought none -- at SMW or above.Comment
