I'm just asking this question out of pure curiousity. Does anyone here respect these guys as athletes or are you under the impression that its just a circus act. As a person whose stepped between the ropes for both sports, i have tremendous respect for both. I've asked my friends this question and they all watch wrestling but not boxing so of course they have a somewhat biased opinion, so i figured i could get some opinions here, most likely they will also be biased, but this time in favor of boxers. I'd appreciate as many real responses as possible.

I don't know how anyone couldn't respect pro-wrestlers as athletes or performers. The outcome may be predetermined; but those guys don't have stunt doubles. They put it all on the line to entertain the crowd and give every fan their money's worth. How can anybody not respect that??Originally posted by tjmoneyI'm just asking this question out of pure curiousity. Pro-wrestling is the equivalent to being a soap opera for men. All the drama, sub-plots, and plenty of ass kicking. You gotta love it.

They have to be athletes, not simply because of what they do one night, but because they have to be able to do it so many nights of the week, all year long, injured or not.
Of course, to overcome injuries, and to try and make themselves freaky big, they have to take steroids and this leads often to a lot of premature deaths as with Eddie Guerrero.
They are considered sports entertainment because not being a sport, they do not have to go through steroid regulation, and get away with the steroid abuse that happens.Comment

Thats not true, the also have a drug policy now, but they call it a Wellness program. And if you havent noticed wrestlers are a lot smaller than they were 15-20 years ago. Then the average weight was prolly around 260-280 lbs, now its more like 230-240. So could we please leave steroids out of this, legal or not theyre in every sport, dont belittle wrestlers for doing the same things all pro athletes do. And still its not all of them, actually most of them dont do it. What people dont realize when they see a guy like Triple H that hes been lifting since he was 14. If we had been doing the same thing and working as hard as he has we would be just as big as him. So could we leave steroids out of this, wrestlers get tested like everyone else.Comment
