He's better than Macklin, but he's a choker like Murray. Both always come up short in big fights.
What makes Lara better than Murray or Macklin?

I'm pretty sure that at least 50% of people in this thread have never actually seen Lara fight except for highlights. Lara is skillful, but his rep is vastly overrated. He's very mobile, but has a questionable chin, doesn't have the best head movement, is featherfisted, and tends to shell up a lot.Comment

The problem with Lara is that he is consistently inconsistent, he has never looked great really. He beat some fighters that he was supposed to lose to but at the same time he doesn't have any impressive wins. He might have some good names on his resume but the wins weren't impressive where he barely sc****d by or won simply because the other guy didn't do anything. You can say what you will about his style, but Lara is elite and that is just a fact. He has been in with elite fighters and more than held his own, and with a bit of luck may have held wins over Paul Williams and Canelo. I think he definitely beat PW and I had the Canelo fight a draw.
Don't get me wrong, he is not Floyd Mayweather, but he is a top fighter. He is awkward, good movement, good defensive skills (although he can be hit), he is fast, and he can punch pretty hard.
Murray and Macklin are not elite, they are borderline world level/gatekeepers who have probably been a bit unlucky not to get a world title.
Even as a smaller fighter at a weight division down, Lara presents more problems and more danger for GGG then both Murray and Macklin. His skills and boxing ability present a challenge which GGG has yet to face, he hasn't fought anyone that good. A lot of people overlook the fact that Lara actually has a lot of pop to keep fighters honest, whether he can do that with GGG remains to be seen, but it is definitely intriguing. GGG might go through him like the others, and that would be impressive and definitely would prove something to the boxing public. It would also create comparable competition with Canelo and is a perfect fight to build the hype for that one, as long as GGG comes through with no problems.
Lara is far from a stylistic nightmare to GGG, Lare is a mover, he does 1-2 and moves or 1-1-2. His defense is a high guard mixed in with movement. If the angula fight taught us anything is that Lara leaves his body wide open before he escapes. he took over 100 body shots (i think) from Angulo and was dropped twice. Now GGG isn't an Angulo but he will snatch that body from underneath Lara and it will make for a short fight. I would say that it isn't going past 6 and would be shocked if he makes it to the final bell.Comment

He's fought Canelo, Paul Williams, and Angulo and he's never been KO'd. He got up off the canvas twice to stop Angulo. Just because you've been knocked down or rattled doesn't mean your chin is questionable. Khan has a questionable chin. Matter of fact his chin isn't questionable. The question about his chin has been answered, he doesn't have one.I'm pretty sure that at least 50% of people in this thread have never actually seen Lara fight except for highlights. Lara is skillful, but his rep is vastly overrated. He's very mobile, but has a questionable chin, doesn't have the best head movement, is featherfisted, and tends to shell up a lot.Comment

The hate train already begun on this thread, good job with exposing the truth once againLara doesn't seem a bit overhyped? We get people here saying Lara would be the best opponent GGG has ever faced, but nothing separates him from anyone else. Macklin and Murray, when they had faced GGG, had only lost to or drew with Martinez and Sturm. Lara has never faced anyone as good as Martinez or Sturm, but hes better than the guys who lost to them?
Something is not adding up when people say he would be GGGs best opponent ever. His best win is Austin Trout.
Oh I get it, Trout is better than Martinez and Sturm.
