Something is not adding up when people say he would be GGGs best opponent ever. His best win is Austin Trout.

Oh I get it, Trout is better than Martinez and Sturm.
The eye test shows that Lara is exceptionally skilled but I agree, that alone doesn't make him better than Macklin or Murray, both of whom have done more in the sport. Lara gets a lot of love because of the Williams fight and because some people think he actually beat Canelo, although everyone's forgetting he didn't.

Lara is by far the most overrated boxer on this forum.

But he is better than Macklin.

Lara gets the benefit of the doubt because of his skin color.
I don't think Lara is a better fighter than Murray. In fact, I think stylistically Murray is all wrong for Lara. He will outwork Lara for a clear UD, basing on activity.

But Lara is more interesting opponent for GGG because of different style. Posters, who want GGG to lose, consider him a face-first brawler and Lara's style is good against such fighters.

I want this fight to happen right after IBF mandatory. BJS seems to be unavailable and Lara fits in nicely.

          WTF, really?

Common sense and a pair of functioning eyes make it clear enough. Who he's fought and how he's performed against them makes it even clearer. He's shown more skill and ability in fights against better opponents than Murray or Macklin ever have. I mean, you rip on Austin Trout, but Austin Trout convincingly beat Miguel Cotto. How did that work for Daniel Geale, who beat Sturm better than Murray or Macklin?

And saying Lara never even fought someone as good as broken Sergio or Felix ****ing Sturm is up there with some of the most ridiculous things anyone's said since I've been on NSB.

P4P he's defnitely better than them, but he's also fragile and I doubt that would change if he moved up.

Murray and Macklin lost to almost every top ten fighter they faced

Lara is better with the eye test and he has fought and beat better fighters than both......are you serious

I'd like to see Lara at middleweight but it wouldn't be a stroll in the park for him I'd give Lemieux a decent chance eubank and Saunders beat him Canelo already has , he's better than most of gggs opponents but I'd don't think he'd have much of a chance against ggg either

By that reasoning, Chisora should start as favourite if he gets in the ring with Wilder as he (Del Boy) has only lost to Vitali, Fury and Haye (I would argue that despite the result, he comfortably beat Helenius).

                    Getting beat by 10's doesn't make you a 9.

Murray is a strong and honest fighter, and Macklin worked hard, but neither are at the level of Lara imho.

The reason Lara is being pushed on here as a possible opponent so much of late, is because Quillin and Lee lost IMO.

After the Lemeiux fight, there were lots of threads on how Golovkin had to 'step up' and face Lee or Quillin. When they both lost, Lara became the next guy. Maybe most people fancy his chances better than Jacobs or Saunders.

Lara is a top-end fighter i feel, i'm a fan of his. His style makes the fight interesting..i do wonder how he does against GGG though.
I think he would be competitive with the other guys at 160; Quillin, Jacobs ect. I don't think he does much better than anyone else has managed so far against GGG though.

I would have to disagree. The REAL reason Lara gets so much traction from the GGG hate squad is that they know full well that a GGG-Lara fight has about a .00001% chance of actually happening, for a myriad of reasons. So they are safe in running their mouths about how Lara would do this, or do that, or be the best opponent, or that GGG is ducking Lara, and blah blah blah, because the fight wont actually happen and prove them to be the idiots we already know they are......
