GBP should try to make Matthysse vs. Sadam Ali, instead of Sadam Ali vs. Vargas.

postol did beat lucas, but how did he pick him apart?? by clinch anytime lucas got close? i thought the fight was close before the KO, and lucas had his moments where he hurt postol.

something that i learnt from this place (nsb) is the love for rewriting history.

I think he needs to stay at 140 and target Broner n Ruslan rematch

judah was a close fight. judah commanded some of those rounds. lucas didnt' ahve hte speed or set up to hit him in the head for quite a few rounds. he hit arms first, then body, then finally the head once judah had slowed down.

alexander really wasn't close . he wasn't landing anything that had any real effect, and the mathysse punches were clearly hurting him. got dropped in a 10 round fight. you gotta do a whole lot to win clearly after getting dropped in a 10 round fight. most people don't think he did nearly enough, myself included.

GBP is going to use matthysse to move some of their younger guys. he's clearly on the slide, and it wouldn't surprise me if he had trouble making 140 at this point.

You know how it is, once you lose it's time to get ragged on. "Ah, he was sht all along!"

And I do happen to believe he was affected by the weight vs Postol, looked like a zombie at the weigh-in and showed up with no determination, not to take anything away from Postol, but I don't think a move to 147 will hurt Matthysse, whether or not he can handle the comp up there is another story.

Stay at 140. He is pretty short especially for 147. His problem with postol was more due to the length and size disadvantage. Postol is a freak nightmare for anyone at 140. Matthysee just needs a tune up fight and he's right back in the mix for a big fight. Only fight that made sense at 147 would of been Pacquiao who is also short. Otherwise get a confidence win and then look for a fight against Ruslan again, Herrera, Crawford, Iman, ect a lot of options at 140. Guys at 147 are too big for him.

He's shot, you can't undo "shot". Too much war with Provo, then Postol confirmed it. Press beyond that and on to 147, u get him seriously hurt. He was nearly stopped in the end by Provodnikov who hits harder than anyone in the division. Then he quit in his next fight, after getting picked apart & hurt all night. It's over.

******. Re-watch the fight. He hammered Matty with jab, right hand, left hook all night. He was out boxed after like the third round, getting dropped by a bomb in the eye socket that Matthysse described he felt a pop in his eye, and couldn't see. I'm a big Matthysse fan, but I don't want to see him get embarrassed and hurt, and that's where he's headed if they ignore his last two fights. Don't manage with your hearts remembering the fight machine he's been. But manage with common sense for what you see today.

have it your way man, i'm a lucas fan too. he lost fair and square that night, but to me it wasn't the way you are saying, lucas had his moments, didn't know how to capitalize on them, postol was doing what he had to to keep him away but picking someone apart is not that. to me picking someone apart is bradley rios for example.

Very fun fighter to watch and gave the alure at 140 that no one else had since a 140 Mosley when he was a monster.
Shame he's been mismanaged a bit since if I was a manager I would've told him to get a new corner after his fight with Garcia.
His coach hasn't learned anything since that Garcia fight, if a fighter clinches your guy then what do you say? How about telling him to get a lil dirty and hit low so the opponent won't feel as comfortable going for a clinch?
His best bet is at 140, fight Granados, get another tune up and this time get a corner that will instruct him on how to fight a guy who's longer and clinches a lot.

It's not just the size difference, and the fact that his strengths will not be as effective at welter..... it is the fact that 147 is currently quite deep, and is stacked with guys who will give him problems stylistically.

I always said that Matthyse was not elite, and I never bought into the pre-Garcia hype..... he picked up some elements from that tard fan-base, who all pretty much jumped ship when he lost to Danny..... but I still like him and support him.

A very good fun fighter who always brings it, I wish him all the best.

Provo at 140, and I take the better fighter Matthyse.
Lucas fans haven't gone anywhere, they are all still here.

It's just hard to be vocal on NSB when you lose to a lesser fighter in Garcia he was supposed to beat, then he lost to who, Postol?

Lucas is a warrior, an exciting fighter, I think he is elite and can make noise at 147, I am glad that all the Lucas fans who used to get into it with me when I would tell them Maidana is the better fighter and boxer, are eating that crow. I've always rated him highly but not above Maidana, who people still underrate.
