Has it crossed your mind that maybe the reason fighters don't seek to unify belts is because it isn't that important?

GGG needs to go to the UK for this one. Bottom line is more money can be made there. Saunders isn't Froch superstar level (yet), but he'd bring a big crowd. A bigger fight than anywhere in the States currently. And Saunders is slick enough to go some rounds. Pay both fighters well and make it happen.

If everything goes GGG's way. He will have beaten Milton Nunez, David Lemieux, Billy Joe Saunders, and Canelo Alvarez to unify titles. Not exactly a grand accomplishment. That's not trolling. That's putting the facts on the table that fanboys like yourself try to ignore.

Sooner or later hes gonna have to move up to keep the interest up unless he plans to work it like tyson and gets big enough fan base that just wants to see him demolish overmatched guys. hes also obviously got to get the canelo fight in as well

Hope GGG takes the UK fight with BJS

It would be awesome if GGG takes the Saunders offer. To see a craftsman like him in the UK would be huge. I rethink he may have more fans in the UK than BJS!!

Anyway, a lot of people criticise Golovkin, for apparently picking on smaller fighters blah blah yawn. I am a big fan and I too want to see him in against the best fighters. We must consider that GGG has stated many times that he wants to unify the division. So until this happens or it gets to a stage where it won't happen (Canelo and/or BJS choosing other fights) then we must reserve judgement. I would love to see GGG vs SOG at 168 or whatever and many criticise GGG for not taking this fight, I feel this is an unjust criticism as the double standard in the logic is ironic to say the least (GGG is such a bum but everyone wants him to fight the recognised king at 168) If say 18 month down the line (after unification of MW division) and chooses not to move up and challenge himself then yes I will lose a lot of respect for him. To say he always picks on smaller fighters or fights cans is deluded!! He can only fight people at MW willing to fight him!!

He had a fight agreed with Andy Lee until his father died and Lee is no midget!! Also something else which must be considered is the 2012 matchup that never happened, between GGG and Unbeaten Russian WBO champ Dmitry Pirog.

Pirog to pull out of the fight with GGG due to a back injury and has not fought since. he knocked out Jacobs to win the belt, and i believe was stripped for choosing to fight GGG rather than his mandatory Hasan N'dam!! Now the intrigue for me would have been how this fight would have turned out, Pirog was something else defensively.
So for me, this kinda blows holes in anybody's theory that GGG is afraid to square off against the Lara's or Ward's of this world.

Apparently Pirog is returning to the ring this year

What are peoples thoughts on a Golovkin-Pirog match up 2012 and today??

Pirog is 35 now so may not have much of a run at the top but he was a great talent and he could pose a major threat at MW.

Canelo and BJS both get train-wrecked by the Kazakh and they both know it!

Pirog has been out for 3 years with a disc injury and is now 35 and never really was a fundamentally sound fighter. I'm not excited for his return and it'll probably be short lived at best vs non-descript competition if it does happen.

whats that got to do with ggg? hes like the one fighter ggg said he wont face no matter what even if the purses are right so kinda pointless mention him. My point is ggg has boxed himself in acting like only thing matters is 160 belts and its allowing him to fight over matched guys and not have to move up and test himself.

people forget ggg is in his 30s not 20s i just think hes playing his fans by all this unifying not fighting certain fighters not willing go up and test himself its just annoying when hes supposed be most avoided

Pirog was very much in control against Jacobs, who was just a kid back then. Nevertheless, when Pirog decided to go for that "switch" he immediately KOd an instantly confused Jacobs...
