Because, it is message you are after and not the messenger. People get too focus on the messenger. You need to analyze the message and see if there is validity to it. Going after Floyd and not the message is always easier, considering he's not a likeable figure, but nevertheless, it equates to nothing but ad hominem.

I don't know if one can say that an ad hominem attack is pointing out hypocracy. I don't think your thinking is wrong, but it can be dangerous. I don't know how old you are, with respect to what generation you are, but when you look at the message independent of the medium I think this has become the thinking for generation X... so I assume you are post baby boomer.

A very wise man from Canada (Marshall MCluen) once said "the medium is the message." Today we are bombarded by messages. You see kids and they don't even know if they are straight, or gay because of the media and the message. But while the media can subliminally and through its b1tches give any message it wants political corretness censors people. So, its not offensive that a woman beater can tell about brutality to someone and when the mayor of Baltimore uses a Hindu word to describe criminals (thug), she was castigated by the media because she done insulted all them thugs! or as they put it, she used a word insensatively referring in this case to certain black youth...The problem was not the behavoir of the youth, it was the word because when you censor people, words belong to the social order and not to human beings expressing themselves.

And thats the problem with a society where annyone, because of their earning power, and not their actions can be allowed to tell people what should concern them, while society can tell us how to express ourselves properly.
