Gonna be hard to fight 3 times a year when you want to fight on Cinco De Mayo and Mexican Independence day, I can see maybe adding a January date that will ahve you fighting every 4-5 months.

Why not December? All his fights don't have to take place on Mexican related dates, like they rarely were before. Am I missing something? Does he fast from Sep to Dec?

I didn't say he's not going to fight on those Mexican dates. Now that Floyd is retired, he can. I just meant in addition to that, like if he wanted to have 3 or 4 fights per year.

Yes, January works well too, but not for this year. I was only talking about this year. If he wants to fight 3 or 4 times a year, then he has to fight on dates other than Mexican related dates. That was the point.

I'm a Canelo fan, too, but no more catchweights.

People make empty comments like "I'm going to fight 3-4 times a year." You can't do it if you are expecting to be on PPV or big HBO or Showtime cards...

Canelo will be fighting twice a year...and that's it..so get out of the fantasy world...

Boxing is not a PPV sport anymore..so all people talking about boxing will never die are wrong..Boxing will never die literally but Boxing is becoming more and more marginal...

UFC can actually support a PPV every month and will get better and better as more young men and women choose MMA as a career...

So if boxing is willing to accept 300K PPVs and lower..than Canelo and Triple G can fight on PPV all the time..

Even if Canelo decided to fight May-Sept and January 3 times a year...who does he fight? Two PPVs against mediocre no names and then one non-PPV vs a complete bum?
