Would YOU rather be a broke legend or a rich duck?

I understand boxers do what they do to earn a living for themselves and their families but it seems as if this current era of boxers (not all but MOST) prefer $ over legacy. So my question to you is, if you were a boxer would you rather go down in history as one of the best ever (fought and beat the best) and be broke or would you rather be known as a duck with a big bank account?

The reason I ask this question is because so many people on NSB are quick to call boxers ducks or discredit how good a boxer really is, so Id like to know the opinion of "the average boxing fan" of what they feel is more important.

BTW, please keep the Mayweather comments if you are going to reference him to minimum, theres 1 billion other threads to talk Mayweather in. Oh and Im not Kanye West so this isnt a subliminal diss to anyone specific.

I'd rather be legendary and broke. The love and admiration of NSB posters is priceless.

I'm quite sure boxing has always been about the Money, hence "Prize Fighting" but the concept of being a legend in the sport is often coming second to the Money. I don't think Joe Louis, Jack Dempsey, Ezzard Charles, Ray Robinson, and many other past greats initially thought about their status amoungst the greats. I believe that comes later after the money.

Very true sir. But I have to agree to disagree with you, Joe Louis is one of my favorite boxers of all time and he didnt make crap for $ and Im sure he wouldve fought Max Schelming for free out of pride, honor and country. He also went out of his way just to pay back a corrupt US government that ripped him off. So although I do agree with what you say for the most part, I think not every fighter thinks $ is top priority...
