One guy got stopped by a C fighter, the other guy has never been stopped or lost, and would likely never lose to a Stevens level fighter, which would be like losing to Murat. Nice comparison. 175 fighters>160 fighters.

Kovalev, Ward, Stevenson, old ass Hopkins, Pascal, Beterbiev, Eleider Alvarez, Fonfora, Shabranskyy, Barrera > sorry ass Middleweight division.Comment

What does that have to do with Ward opponents losing on the cards in Oakland when they actually should have won?

Can you point to even one example where Ward got a gift decision in Oakland?Comment

Andre Ward is exactly the one I am referring too as being Dumb. Andre has cost himself over $10 million in paydays by sitting out and bargaining for better pay days and bigger fights which never happened. If Andre had some brains behind him giving sound advice then Ward's meager career takes off and pays off. Now the dimwit Andre Ward in his 30's is a nothing unwanted and unnoticed and unneeded.Comment

Not gifts but he had very close fights with Boone & Bika that could easily have gone the other way if he was not the better connected fighter.

I don't think he really cares, he was ready to retire not long ago. Imo his heart isn't in the fight game any more. Wouldn't be that surprised to see Barrera beat him.Andre Ward is exactly the one I am referring too as being Dumb. Andre Ward is as badly managed as James Kirkland has been mismanaged and confused. Andre values himself as another Floyd or manny when in reality Andre has almost no value in boxing and draws nothing and is quite boring and dull. Too bad Andre never got a smart adviser in life to assist this misguided kid from the ******. Sad really as Andre seems to be a nice colored boy who stays out of trouble. Not gifts but he had very close fights with Boone & Bika that could easily have gone the other way if he was not the better connected fighter.

I feel for you and hope like Scott your excuse is being young. A man's life is more than his career. Andre Ward happens to be a guy who is a presence in the community...a community that desperately needs him, he is a man of faith and a man who loves to spend time with his family.Andre Ward is exactly the one I am referring too as being Dumb. Andre has cost himself over $10 million in paydays by sitting out and bargaining for better pay days and bigger fights which never happened. ****** is a guy like Mayweather who will no doubt, with all the wisest career moves, be broke in the next ten years. Mayweather is nothing without his money and career, Andre Ward could quit boxing tomorrow, live the lifestle he is living now and provide for his people, and still speak as an elder in his community.

You see one slice of Ward, in this case the fact that he does not listen to massa (said sarcastically), shut up and fight, when he is told to do so, by the man. Ward has every right to determine what he wants to do with his talents, body and career. There is nothing ****** about feeling violated by a contract and not giving your body and soul fufilling said contract.

Nobody on this site knows why Ward had a problem with that contract...NOBODY. We all know boxing promoters and contracts... There is no logical reason why a promoter could not come to an understanding regarding a contract and be bought out...Most people on this site work in jobs where if they quit, or are fired, the contract is null and void...its called an "at will" employment contract. Yet a young man like Ward is held to a contract and not even allowed to buy it out because the man says so...

What you fail to realize is that an athlete and entertainer have contracts that favor the promoters. And furthermore, while most entertainers think of their livlihood as who they are...Andre Ward is a rare exception. I taught school in the Bay Area and know Oakland very well... For Ward to identify with Oakland is fantastic for the area, for the kids trying to get ahead who see a positive role model....back in Michigan I guess they are still waiting for Floyd lol.

At the end of the day you know what frustrates many? Ward has enough going for him that his career is not worth giving things to Goosen. So people who have nothing, they see this and feel compelled to disrespect Ward...because if they had his talent they would make a boatload of money! move to Las Vegas where the real predators are, fight everyone at catchweight and avoid any real challenges to keep that 0 losses, which brings me to my final thought:

Andre Ward cleaned out his division. he fought the best in his division, no questions asked. He has nothing to prove to anybody. No I don't think he deserves a high ranking right now, but history does not go away...a fighter from Oakland CA cleaned out his division and made it look like Aesops cleaning the stables of the Greek King by asking hercules to divert the river for him.

And that is the end of my rant.Comment
