I don't know if you remember but last year you argued with me for pages because I bet Ward's next fight would be in Oakland. Guess you're ok with it now but yes he's a a lifelong hometown attraction.

At least Berrera is a decent opponent though. I'm surprised somewhat.

its not even close...GGG's resume looks like a guy in his 20s, not his mid 30s and all this hype.


Ward has faced fighters in fights that were toss ups, near even money etc.....most of GGG's fights are mismatches where the outcome is already known

ggg turned pro later then most and ggg is from kazakhstan so it was very difficult to build a following where ward was fighting on US tv early on in his career. you don't seem to be factoring in these things. you seem to be pretending that everything is equal for every fighter which it clearly is not. its like giving trump 100 million dollars and giving another guy 5 dollars. look trump is more successful after 10 years....a shocking result. ward used his opportunities to become very successful but he also squandered many opportunities by being inactive and turning down fights. meanwhile ggg has continued to rise slowly but surely while ignoring people who continually compare him to American fighters who had inherent advantages. you can't cater to the ignorant...unless you are trump. brought it all around in the end

Funny how the Floyd/Ward mafia talks crap about GGG may be fighting a non top 10 guy but they praise Ward(The bull**** P4P #1) for fighting a non top 10 guy.

It's his first fight at the weight. Going into a probable Kovalev fight. Yea... let's ignore that. This is a pretty damn good fight at lhw all things considered. There aren't many other fights that can be made that would be better. I'm not sure what your point is tbh.

That, right there, is absolutely spot on the money. The guy is a bit delusional, or a lot delusional. Premature talk of P4P went to his head, and he believed his own hype. He's a decent, if boring, operator, who maybe could have been so much more - the Froch rematch in UK, for example, would have solidified his reputation AND put millions in his bank account.
Many avid boxing followers now have a dislike for the guy because he has done nothing of note for years and years. I'm glad he's taking on a semi respectable opponent (if it actually happens), but supporters of his would have us believe he's doing boxing some massive favour by taking on a minor risk.

If he wins = good, we get to see Kovalev dismantle him. If he loses that's ok too, he can fight more bums in Oakland bingo halls. Not good for boxing, him and his attitude.

Andre Ward acts like Ward is doing fans and boxing a huge favor just by fighting anyone. Ward actually thinks boxing needs Andre Ward in Oakland. Ward could be dumber than james Kirkland and that is DUMB>

andre Ward is dumber than James Kirkland and that is pretty dumb. Ward thinks Andre actually is smart but in reality Andre is dumber than a rock which is typical of most fighters.

Not his first fight at the weight. I see what you mean but he should be put on higher standards considering you guys are putting his ok resume on a pedestal.

There's plenty of better fighters in the division. I can name you 10 based on ratings. If you're the so called best in the world, you have to back it up. Fighting a non top 10 guy doesn't cut it.

I'm not even sure what their point is...lhw is a pretty crap division, probably even worse than mw but fir the fact that it's actually top heavy. All the guys under the top 5 on rings rankings are journeymen and prospects and new contenders. In the top 4 we have Kovalev, Stevenson, Hopkins, and Pascal...all of those guys are either unavailable or retired. Finally we have Alvarez rounding out the top 5 whose fighting chilemba. So that means there are a total of 6 fighters who are completely unavailable in the top 10. The other 4? Guys who are no better than Barrera tbh.
