Now as far as fighters go and achievements....Gatti, Mancini and Mcguigan should not be in there or at least let guys like Gilberto Roman, Eddie Booker, and guys who've been on the ballot and who beat better fighters get in first
it has become a popularity contest where the put more weight on " cultural influence" and being in wars trumps skills, dominance....sad sad sadComment

i understand why he got in as a non-participant....i was growing up in the 80s and 90s and those movies were instrumental in getting casual fans into boxing....changed my life and outlook on the sport

Wasn't Stallone a part of Contender or some series for boxing back in the day too
Some people wouldn't even know what boxing is if it wasn't for those movies.
I understand your position but I understand why he is in too
Gatti...McGuigan...not so muchComment

A great read, thanks to the author.
I think it should be more stringent, and less categories.
You should rarely, if ever, have to justify why someone was inducted.Comment

I like the stingy standards of the baseball Hall of Fame.
It isn't easy to get in but if you do it's a real honor, something special. And the Old Timers Committee is there to make sure everyone gets a second look as time passes by and gives more of a historical perspective.
I'm with you, and for the same reasoning.
Good call.Comment

I have a question, based on ShoulderRoll's post.....
What is held in higher regard, the boxing HOF or the baseball HOF, and why ?
My point is..... quality > quantity, anyday.
The old-timers are right.Comment
