Fighter of the decade...is it a curse?

The last 2 to win..Roy Jones and Manny Pacquiao, both have been brutally ko'd after winning the award...Roy has since refused to retire and has even been brutally ko'd once again last month. He is in huge debt and even left the USA to become a Russian citizen to evade the tax debt

Manny is also in huge tax debt and it appears his handlers are trying to convince him to continue to fight on for a few more years against up and coming fighters.

Is winning this award a curse?

I wouldn't say it's a curse to them.I'd say it's not being in control of your own finances.

Certainly not a curse. That award is for ten years of training, gym wars, wear and tear on the body and actual fights that both guys had where they took punishment. Especially Manny with the style he implemented.

Manny would have been better off not resigning to top rank the last time or two....he is so big he doesnt need a promoter....being in an era where fighters realized it like Jones and ODLH...Then Mayweather and Cotto, he should have knew better.

Jones did promote himself but I dont know his situation

I dont know many fighters who were under Arum or Don King who remained wealthy after their careers were over.

Broner pretty much went to **** after you predicted he'd win the award, that's kinda like a curse.

I echo that sympathy, that first Bradley fight was a total fix. That was Arum at his most dirtiest imo
