A Ducking Problem at 140....Why Can't Terence Crawford Land These Big Fights?

Well I can see why if you read "in reality if it all made sense we are ready to fight Crawford now" as "if we got a super duper offer".
I think Postol gots a legit claim as Crawford's equal give or take (even if TR or certain fans disagree) & if he's not paid as such I think he's fair in feeling he's not getting his value. I'm certainly more impressed with Postol taking out Matthysse than anything Crawford has done at 140 (Dulorme & Jean).Comment

The plan i saw was to showcase Crawford this year, which they did and will do, attach his name to Pac, bypass him for a money grab fight then have him face the winner. And they are praying Pac is the winner.
Reason for Pac/Bradley is because Bradley signed a big contract that pays him alot though he doesnt draw and they need to get him big fights to cover that paycheck. You see how empty it was for Rios and he got close to 2 mil for that. This trilogy plan was set in motion long ago. Arum needed opponents.
No one is ducking him.Comment

TC is a beast, there is no doubt in my mind that no one is overjoyed to jump in the ring with him but to say people are ducking is a bit harsh. I think what most top names are 140 are insinuating really is that TC isnt just some guy you jump off the couch to fight, given his style a tune-up would always be wise or at least a long training camp. Let TC gain a little more marketability and he will gain some takers, right now the risk is to high compared to the reward.Happy New Year Fellas. 2016 looks like it will be another year of mismatches and fights not being made.
One of the most intriguing divisions in boxing is 140. You have Terence Crawford of course, Viktor Postol, Mauricio Herrera (who is still the measuring stick for a lot of you guys), Jose Benevidez, Adrien Broner, Ruslan Providnikov and a promising prospect in Antonio Orozco.
The problem? Nobody wants to fight Terence Crawford to bring closure to this division:
Mauricio Herrera - No
Viktor Postol - No
Ruslan Provodnikov - No
So it's looking like it will be TBA (I heard Hank Lundy is now the front runner). First off, I had no clue that Crawford was this avoided so I need to backtrack on statements I made criticizing him for a subpar 2015. TC can pack the house in his home town and he comes to fight. Why won't these guys step up and fight him in February?Comment

I agree. Postol is the man to beat in the division. I was just under the impression that both sides were on board and that the unification was next. TC spent the entire 2015 with tuneups and now will have a third consecutive tuneup in February.Well I can see why if you read "in reality if it all made sense we are ready to fight Crawford now" as "if we got a super duper offer".

And given Top Rank's history with marinating, I don't know how anyone can be optimistic that all these fights will take place.Comment

Well that ****ing sucks. I didn't realize all that was happening. I wonder if Matthysse is a possible option. If the rest of those fighters aren't interested, Matthysse might be the best left.Comment

Arum was doing a spectacular job with Crawford, but seems to been too focused on a potential Pac fight and stalled him where he shouldn't have. I hope not.Comment

Well boxing isnt fair. its a business. Some guys for whatever reason keep getting title shots in big fights. Remeber Rocky juarez?Happy New Year Fellas. 2016 looks like it will be another year of mismatches and fights not being made.

That guy would no sooner lose a fight and hed be back losing another title shot 2 weeks later over and over.

It's not a Ducking problem as much as it is a Promoter problem IMO. When these larger promotional outfits, they are not willing to put a fighter that they are selling as the next big thing in with a threat like Crawford. I think he beats just about everyone at 140 with ease. It's similar to how TR promoted FMWjr. Here you have an extreme talent but you won't give him the platform to truly shine his brightest. Mark my words, Crawford will be the next big TR fighter to jump ship to Haymon.Happy New Year Fellas. 2016 looks like it will be another year of mismatches and fights not being made.
