Would a 168 pound GGG even be in his absolute peak, prime?

When we talk about GGG fighting Ward at 168, would Ward even beat the same GGG that we all have grown to love and admire?

Think about it. We all know that GGG is not a pure technician. That's not the primary reason for his success. If one thing is off. If his strength isn't the same, or his punching power is weakened --you are no longer beating the 34-0 Middleweight GGG.

If you think about it further, GGG should speed up his 160 campaign and move up, so he can retire his middleweight record and go down as a undefeated Middleweight Champion. He might go up and and have a 10-3 record, but he could forever have undefeated middleweight resume.

GGG is more than a puncher, he is a solid boxer and sets up his punches very well. Ward is better defensively and has the ability to fight at his own pace. GGG is the perfect style match up for him because GGG is not a savage, he is a cultured beast. Add in the size benefit and it's not a hard fight for Ward, who overt he last few years, has been very comfortable at 170+.

Well his trainer always boasts about he knocked out Kovalev in sparring, and his trainer talked up how GGG beats anyone from 154 to 168.

I think he'd be in his absolute peak/prime in his fans eyes only against a potential fight against Abraham, Chavez Jr and the likes. But against Ward, I think his fans would claim Golovkin is a natural Jr Middleweight bloated up to 160, and that 168 was way too much for him. In reality it's just Ward is the better fighter.

Your question pretty much depends, like Trinidad at MW. Very good MW, crushing Joppy and all. Labeled as bloated/small after Hopkins dominated him.

I keep reading these GGG vs Ward analyses, and nobody ever mentions one very important factor - even though he is smaller, GGG hits much harder than Ward, who only has moderate power.

I don't know if Golovkin could beat Ward at 168 or 172, though I would favour him. But one thing I am sure about is that if they were the same size, GGG would KO Ward.

168 is a wasteland. if ggg has any balls he will move up to 175. i mean floyd moved up 5 divisions so why can't he move up 2? i mean its the same exact thing right? right.............

So in other words you want to set different standards for Golovkin moving up in weight opposed to every other fighter in history. Typical around here.
