oscar was on ppv though. pac and canelo are bigger ppv stars right now than ggg so you cant say back then oscar was their number one guy and floyd wasn't and then at the same time say ggg is now #1 when canelo and pac are on hbo ppv like oscar was.

you don't think hbo "pushed" floyd? he was on hbo for 7 years before doing his first ppv. they gave him a ton of easy fights along the way and waited for the perfect opponent on ppv. a popular but over the hill fighter fighting way above his best weight class. ggg fought a relatively unknown guy in his first ppv. ggg doesn't have any super popular fighters except cotto and canelo and he has tried to face both of them. if floyd had his first ppv against henry bruseles or corley it prob would have tanked. even against a fellow beltholder like spadafora it would have tanked. ggg's timing just wasn't as good as floyd's but a ppv against lemiuex was the only way he could get his belt so they made the fight. he could have waited around fighting bums like floyd did for years but he decided to be proactive.

I hope something like this does happen. If GGG becomes much more popular and knock out Canelo which will be HUGE! Yes, this fight may brew in to a potential blockbuster. Especially if it happens in 2017 with a 40 year old aged Mayweather, there will definitely be people tuning in.

GGG will never ever come close to Mayweather or even Pacquiao's draw/appeal.
Mayweather's appeal was that he was a loud mouth, flashy arrogant undefeated fighter who claimed cant be beat.
Pacquiao was an ASIAN let alone FIRST FAMOUS FILIPINO boxer , in history. Had the whole country behind his back, and also was different than most common boxers. No one had ever seen an Asian dominate a sport like Pacquiao from the Phillippines.
