That honestly sound like a "fair" deal to anyone here?
Who has more pull at 175? Where are they gonna make more money, vs Kovalev? He made 500K vs Hopkins, so how are his opponents gonna earn anymore than that? Barrera doesn't have an Al Haymon in his corner, he's not gonna get anywhere near a million to fight Ward. Like it or not, the money Ward is guaranteed he earned. Come talk to me when Barrera has even put in half the work Ward has in his career.

Edwin Rodriguez had Al Haymon as his manager, so he got 1M. If 300K(your career high payday) isn't enough for you to fight Ward, then you're pricing yourself out. The only light heavyweight that honestly has a fan base where an opponent could probably ask for 300K or more is Jean Pascal.

Which GGG opponent aside from Lemeuix(due to PPV) has made over 300K?

Ward just has ONE light heavyweight win, over a bloated super middleweight Paul Smith, who was coming off two losses and appeared to not even train for the fight.

Barrera is a bigger draw in Florida than Ward is in California, because his style is more fan-friendly (Ward has an ugly style, he just grapples, clamps his opponents arms, and head butts).

Ward had to give away ringside tickets for his fight with Smith!!!
Resume at a weight have nothing to do with pull. Pull is power and attraction, the top guys want to fight Ward not Barrera, pull is why Barrera gets offers of 300k as a career high and Ward gets a guaranteed 2 mil.

Geale 600k, Rubio 450k. Macklin and Stevens got 300k but Ggg only made 350 and 400k then. Those were low budget shows, like 30% of what Wards fight will cost

Dang, GGG opponents making loot! I completely forgot about Stevens cause I know initially they reported he turned down 300K for GGG.

Geale is a former champ so I can see him making money, Rubio(while not a world beater) has put in work to earn money. What has Barrera done? Wasn't Kovalev's last fight his mandatory for the IBF? Barrera isn't gonna get that shot anytime soon

              • I wonder why Al Haymon didn't sign Andre Ward in the first place.

Probably because Ward is too much of a selfish, demanding prima donna, and has a boring and ugly (grappling, clamping, clinching and headbutting) style.

Point is, Ggg has consistently given a very generous cut to the challenger. Ward should say, here's an extra 200k, and I'll take 1.8m cause he's having major issues finding credible opponents and even blown up bums won't come much cheaper than 300k on Hbo

But the selfish Ward loves money too much to do that.
