    Not yet. GGG has a much larger fan base. No one outside of hardcore boxing enthusiasts no who Kovalev is...however, come Sept GGG train gets derailed....oh well, every dog has his day. Kovalev will meet his match as well, its inevitable.

    But as of today, HBO has made the right move.

      I think Golovkin has no future because the division is weak and he's unwilling to budge on weight. Most stars come from stacked divisions and either change weight classes or do catch-weights at some point. Frustrating because, at near 34, he's running out of time and 160 is basically this;

        You seem to be stacking the deck in favor of Kovalev who is a great fighter but he doesn't have better a better record than GGG. You left Murray out of GGG's notable wins and you shouldn't have. Murray is an excellent fighter and was a top middleweight contender when GGG fought him. Murray got robbed when he fought then champion Martinez in Argentina. He is now rated highly at 168 and lost a close split decision to champ Abraham. GGG has never been knocked down or hurt by anybody. He almost never even loses a single round and he has never had a fight that was remotely close. Kolvolev has been knocked down several times and lost lots of rounds and he has a draw on his record that you left out. Ring may rank Kovalev 2nd and GGG 3rd but most other places like ESPN, Boxing Scene, HBO ,and Boxrec have GGG ahead of Kovalev. There is nothing wrong with HBO backing GGG. He is getting the job done in style. Kovalev and GGG are both great but I'd give GGG the edge for the reasons I have stated.

          I forgot to say GG has 6 more KO wins than Kovalev has total fights. GGG has I believe 23KOs in a row and counting. He has made many more defenses of his title than Kovalev has and he fights more time a year than Kovalev does.

              I don't think so, neither is going to be a Cross Over Superstar or anything like that but both will Stars with fight fans.

              Best move HBO made was getting Canelo away from Showtime, that is who will likely be their next Superstar!

              Mainevents and K2 are not powerful promotions to make either of them Crossover Superstars!

                GGG is for sure the more marketable & likeable guy. And the Kovalev show seems like a Wizard of Oz type thing. They are hiding the real Kovalev behind a curtain. They are hyping this guy as just some regular guy when so much about him screams douchebag. GGG can be the face of HBO post-Manny, Kovolev should just be allowed to be a d-bag & get those hater fans coming to watch him lose.

                    It's not inevitable that Kovalev or GGG will lose a fight. Mayweather went to age 38 without ever losing a fight and these two great fighters might go just as long without ever losing a fight. That gives them 5 or 6 years to remain unbeaten. I have always bet on Canelo but if he fights GGG I think he will lose. I don't have the heart to bet against my long time favorite Canelo. I will have no problem betting a large amount that Kovalev beats Ward if Ward actually fights him.
