  • Floyd Mayweather Jr was afraid of Pacquiao...yes he was

You can see it in the fight and how he talks after..he bought into the media and the hype and believed in something that was never even present..His father even told him this, In life he fear things that are not even real. The mind works in mysterious ways, but once that confidence kicks in you overcome your fears and that is when greatness is made....Foreman also feared Frazier but once he overcame it we got a masterpiece....

Fear is not real and once a person realizes it they actually see how great they truly are in life, but as a fan and as the year ends i thought i would make this post just to clear the air. God bless you all and happy holidays

He was scared to fight. But he did what he always does and won so credit for that.

And thanks for making another Floyd thread.

We know he was. Still is. Especially after knowing he only had one good arm in their fight.

I think he feared losing more though Larry. We can say he was scared of Manny or he wasnt. I think more than all he was scared of losing...period.

JMM for example fought him 4 times. Wasnt scared of losing be casue he has suffered defeat before. Even loss to Manny. I thought he edged a close win with Manny in the 3rd personally or could have gone either way.

JMM will fight other fighters now but WILL not fight Manny again. Not because he is scared of Manny but because he is scared to lose again to Manny. Floyd didnt want to lose to Manny or any one. Especially Manny.

Why is Manny the only one wanting the rematch with Floyd or JMM? Floyd or JMM despite the MILLIONS they'd make.will not fight that man again! lol

I don't think he was afraid of Pacquiao as a fighter, but more "what if". What if he loses to the man people said was his biggest threat. Losing to a lesser fighter wouldn't be that damaging but losing to the man people said can beat you, on the biggest stage of all...that is damaging. And i don't think it was one way traffic, i believe both guys were apprehensive to lose to each other because of the stage it was on and the talk for years about who is the best.

It's the same reason i believe Khan has never been keen to face Brook. If Khan loses to Kell Brook at Wembley stadium with the whole nation watching, it's a lot more damaging then if he had lost to Alexander or something, even though Brook is a much better fighter. I don't believe Khan fears being in the ring with anybody at all, but fears losing to that certain fighter because of the consequences.

So i never felt Floyd was afraid to actually fight Pacquiao, just the consequences of losing that particular fight on that scale would have been so damaging. Pacquiao losing is bad for him but he lost in recent years anyway and Floyd was favourite and undefeated and was the villain in the eyes of the general public, he had way more to lose.

He was pretending to be afraid to make people think he was vulnerable, therefore by doing that he suckered in people to buy the ppv and imposed his will on fight night. Floyd Mayweather is a marketing genius.

Lol a masterpiece, you are deluded if you don't think the "Fight of the Century" won't live in infamy. He didn't overcome his fear when it mattered, if he would have beat a prime Pacquiao it might be a different story.
