I'm sure his win just messed up some middleweight plans. Congratulations to him though, not sure there has ever been a time when two Irish Travellers were world champions at the same time in two different divisions and if so, probably 80+ years or so

It would be interesting to see an article on why this is happening, an in depth analysis. I don't really expect to find an article like that on this site but if any of you see it on another site please give me a heads up.
Well the UK is just that, so you have Jamaicans, Pakistanis, and who knows what in the ranks. As far as Puerto Rico goes, have you seen the scoring that goes on? 9-8 rounds in a ten point must system, three knock downs and one point round, promoters adjusting the cards. It's hard to win on the Islands, but none of these guys are in a hurry to fight on the other guys Island. I haven't seen any English champs defend in Puerto Rico or the Philippines.

After round eight, Saunders will gas out; his footwork will abandon him; his ribs gets crushed by GGG hooks.

That what I'm starting to think. Lee the champion should've been completely outclassed but wasn't. I also had it a 1-2 point win for Lee. Certainly do not think Saunders took it to Lee, especially the last half of the fight. Maybe a few spurts here and there, but not consistently. But yeah, Saunders people must've had more moolah to throw around than Lee's people. Lee will be back though. Not the best, maybe not champ again, but still very solid and a proven draw in the UK.

That one would be a great fight. As sneaky as Saunders is, he should be able to catch Jacobs solid, at least early.

Saunders will be the Arthur Abraham of the UK.

GGG can box, don't be fooled. Saunders will out-slick him for most rounds, and be stopped late. Unless he has a stainless steel chin, the matador can not avoid the bull that long when they're in that close proximity.

                    -----------------------------------------------------------

Couple observations.... Maybe it's just cranky old guy talking, but geez the ref was in the way. The director in the truck must've been pissed trying to get the right shot. Refs gotta have more set sense and realize where the cameras most likely are. There's only so much a director can do to keep the flow right for the viewer... especially with an already low output fight like this one. Yes the ref's main job is to ref the fight, but geez this ref seemed daft to the fact the bout was being filmed.

And my isn't it nice to see the British ladies with some meat on their bones. AND some actual ROCK music between rounds. May haveta retire to the UK in 4 years.
