Lara-Rodriguez was actually broadcast on SpikeTV, so now it's even more clear that you're arguments against that show are **** (even if Lara got $1m, the fighter costs of delivering the fight card to SpikeTV likely didn't come to $2m once everything was counted).

Canelo-Kirkland was likely significantly subsidized by the money brought in from the Mexico TV deal, with Kovalev-Pascal massively subsidized by the money that came in from Canadian PPV (let alone the money that came in on the gate); there's not enough info present to even make a guess at what the Klitschko-Jennings fight was worth to HBO.

Cotto is arguably one of the four biggest stars in the sport, so HBO may have opened up the pocket for that fight. Before that, you have to go back TWO YEARS to maybe find a number. lol

In 2015 alone, Showtime opened up the pocketbook for Stiverne-Wilder, ChavezJr-Fonfara, Wilder-Molina, and Jacobs-Quillin, with the likelihood of also opening up the pocketbook for Wilder-Szpilka, Wilder-Fury, Jack-ChavezJr, and Degale-Jack/ChavezJr, among other fights (Brook vs Khan is likely headed to the UK, putting it on as an afternoon international show on Showtime).

HBO chose to put Golovkin-Lemieux on PPV, rather than opening up their pocket, because they didn't want to back their fighter, yet you expect HBO to lay out $3m+ to host a fight where only one fighter is aligned with them beyond just this one fight? lol
I like how you tell me not to make assumptions, then you proceed to make assumptions left & right. You don't know how much Showtime is paying and how much Al is subsidizing. I only mentioned Lara as an example of how Al vastly overpays beyond a fighter's market value. Do you really really believe Showtime paid DeGale $3million dollars? If so we can stop talking right here, I don't have time for the autistic.

We also know commission purse reports are not always the full amounts as promoters can structure pay to avoid certain taxes, especially for international fighters. They can pay a 'likeness fee' that doesn't get hit with all the same taxes as the fight purse.

I already pointed out the HBO fights I listed were subsidized by international tv and strong gates, but we don't know how much. Golovkin's fights have long been subsidized by international tv and now strong gates as well. The Canadian tv numbers for Golovkon/Lemieux were not reported.

The point of all this is yes, HBO is capable and potentially willing to buy a Golovkin/Jacobs fight for $3mill (like they did with Ward/Rodriguez) or maybe more. The gate at MSG would be around another $2mill, international tv would also add significantly. HBO's motive for doing this would be to invest into Golovkin's stature which would then deliver a stronger return on the Alvarez ppv. They obviously didn't have that same motivation for Golovkin/Lemieux as Lemieux was not as popular as Jacobs in the US market and there was no Alvarez ppv on the immediate horizon.

Of course I already know the end result of HBO offering Jacobs a career high payday to face Golovkin - Haymon has him vacate.

Was just looking at BJS's twitter page and he put up some betting slips.

One said BJS to win on points and the other said for him to win in rounds 1 to 3.

I guess that might explain why he barely threw a punch in round 4 after he had Lee hurt?

It would be interesting to see an article on why this is happening, an in depth analysis. I don't really expect to find an article like that on this site but if any of you see it on another site please give me a heads up.
Well facilities, boxing heritage, poverty, multi-culture (which gives us more chance of finding talent)...we have world champs from all walks of lives, all over the UK.

A lot of countries don't have what we have, we are unique, apart for America

The fact that the presentation for PBC shows is markedly different from the presentation of Showtime broadcasts should make it obvious that things aren't in the same pot. (Compare the presentation of the cards on Showtime to the presentation of the cards on CBS, while acknowledging that CBS/Showtime is the parent company to both network).

In focusing so intently on "OMG, Erislandy Lara got paid $1m!!!!!!!!!!1!!!!!!", you miss out on the reality that that entire PBC on ESPN card only had total payouts that ended up being under $2m, well in line with the believed payouts for most, run of the mill, HBO cards.

Degale-Bute was on PPV in Canada; if you expect anyone to actually think that Showtime paid $3m to air that fight, you must also believe that HBO shelled out $5m for Kovalev-Pascal. gtfoh.

Ward got the big budget because he came over to HBO as an attraction, after his rep making performance in Showtime's Super Six tournament. Hbo has yet to put that kind of money behind Golovkin, and I doubt that they put that kind of money behind Golovkin for his next fight (might even have the gall to try and push that can fight to HBO as well).

Beyond that, you're overestimating the type of international money that would get put behind a 3am fight in the UK (or a 5am fight in Germany), lol.

Showtime has shown that, if need be, they're more than willing to spend the money for the fights that they want.

HBO has yet to do the same; imagine that Golovkin-Jacobs is the first fight for them to do so, but I wouldn't hold my breath.
