Those three were strong YOUNG boxers, two (Lemieux and Murray) were top ten middleweights in their primes.
In contrast, Pacquiao is past his prime (Mayweather avoided him until he was KOed cold by Marquez). Berto is faded and not a top ten welterweight.
Tunney let me start by wishing you and yours a safe and Happy Kwanzaa!
Come on, man. Those 3 are not FOTY quality wins. You know it, I know it. Welts knows it. Everyone knows it. If Canelo, Cotto, or any other MW had those 3 wins in the same fashion there is no way they'd get FOTY consideration from anyone other the their diehard fans.
As for Manny-if that's how you see him, fine with me. You know the truth-Manny turned fight down twice-but you pin it on Floyd to take something away from him. After what we saw May 2nd, its clear why Manny waited- the same outcome was going to happen in 2009, 2010, 2012 20whenever.
Best thing about Floyd beating Manny is the way people are now changing how they judge Manny. He went from healthy, fit and at the top of his game when he beat Algieiri to washed up (and expected to lose) when he lost. Then when the #1 p4p debate began once Floyd retired, the same posters saying he was washed up in May were arguing he is top 3 again.
Fury might win and if he does I won't be mad. I think he wins BWAA award. That said the best victory this year is Floyd over Manny. He totally neutered and neutralized one of the great offensive fighters of this generation (which suddenly everyone "expected" to happen).
Have a safe and happy holiday season.
