Why has GGG's career been moved so slowly?

The boy...i mean man is good, has a decent fanbase and is a huge talent but his team dont seem to know how to get him to that next level. Maybe canelo will fight him and we will see what happens then

His career has de facto started in 2012, when he knocked Proksa out on HBO.
Before that he was with Universum, which no longer exists.
In 3 years he became a unified MW champion, one of the boxing biggest stars and just recently headlined his first PPV.
Compared to other fighters, he did and still is doing pretty good.Last edited by Szef; 12-19-2015, 08:01 AM.

Didn't Kelly Pavlik get loads of hype over in the states for doing that, I'm pretty sure he did but then he raised his game and started losing the only difference is GGG is fighting the guys in the top 10 of his division.
I don't think you realize how much you're praising a fighter If the only way you say he can lose is by fighting a guy two weight divisions above him.

He didn't sign to a big promoter right out of the amateurs. It is kind of ridiculous that he's 34 with his amateur pedigree that his resume is the way it is. But that's what happens when your not with Haymon/GBP or Top Rank. You can't get a hold of the big names.

Universum boxing promotions anyone? No? GGGs promotional issues which had him sidelined to protect money-spinner Sturm then barred from boxing in either Germany or the US until mid 2012 are pretty well documented.

He and Ward fought in the same Olympics and Ward is younger. The MW division was filled with killers when GGG could've turned pro and fought in America. GGG is 33. Think of the MW division 10 years ago when he was 23.
His current problem is K2. If he were with Arum or Golden Boy he'd already be MW champ. Instead they've taken step aside after step aside in hopes of getting a shot. They were told before Canelo/Cotto that this would be the last time they'll have to step aside. The winner must fight GGG or vacate. And what happened? They stepped aside again. Another issue is K2 doesn't pay well. They want the Lee fight next if he wins but I guarantee they won't pay him more than he would get paid to fight -Jacobs. They aren't getting that fight.
As an American Gold Medalist Ward had it easier, don't fool youself. His career peaked before he had to deal with his promotional issues.
Golovkin's peaking now, after he's had his.
