It's Golovkin who needs Andre Ward desperately if he wants to be #1 p4p and considered a true great. He's the one who should "want the fight so bad."

As for his comp, it is what it is. There aren't any exciting options for him at middleweight, outside of Canelo. And if GGG wants to stay there, fine. But, it takes a very long stretch of divisional dominance to become a top P4P guy. Especially when the division is weak. The most recent example that comes to mind is Calzage at super middleweight. He dominated that division for a decade before he started to be recognized as a P4P guy. And even then, he still had to move up and beat Hopkins before being truly excepted as a bonafide elite.

There are only 2 guys that are "smaller" that Golovkin has called out. One of them is Cotto, who at the time was lineal and WBC MW champion.
The other guy is Floyd, self proclaimed TBE, undefeated, defensive genius.
The fight with Ward fell through because of Ward. Here are two sources that outline what happened during GGG/Ward negotiations:
http://www.boxingscene.com/golovkin-...ch-ward--90263
http://www.badlefthook.com/2015/6/16...sts-andre-ward
And here's another article where Golovkin himself talks about fight with Ward:
http://www.badlefthook.com/2015/3/19...desired-fights
• #4 Andre Ward: "I respect Andre, he is great champion. Fight with him, my first focus is 160. Second, I want pay-per-view fight. Excuse me, Andre, fight with him now is not pay-per-view fight. It's not unification fight, not pay-per-view fight, just nothing. Just for fans. For future, of course, maybe next year, maybe for future. Of course."
Everybody pretends those conversations didn't happen, they hold onto "154 to 168" and "lil g". When Golvokin was available, Ward was the one who was not serious about fighting. When Ward got serious, Golovkin was no longer available - and that's exactly what they told him, "maybe 2017". EVERYTHING supports Golovkin's team right now. Johnson or Lee this Spring, Canelo in fall. That pushes any potential non-unification fights into 2017.
In short, if you're someone with a brain, you read the situation and say "ok, I hope it happens in 201 or 18". If you're a hater, you'll continue with the brainless "Golovkin ducking Ward doe!!!" nonsense.
Also, Golovkin has shown willingness to fight ANYONE with a big name, including many fighters who are bigger than him. Examples include Ward, Froch, Chavez Jr.

The Ward "offer" was never serious. What serious person gives someone a callout not now, "but but but next year doe"? LMAO

Shouldn't be hard to find a countless number of them from other fighters, trainers, and boxing insiders. And you can go ahead and by GGG's bull****. Dude is pretty much a walking contradiction.
NSB in a nutshell.
