    Two different fighters

    Two different eras

    Two different paths

After Hopkins beat Trinidad he was #2 behind Roy Jones. After Hopkins stopped Delahoya it took Tarver shocking the world and knocking Roy out for Bernard to become the p4p

And then he wasn't the p4p 10 MONTHS before losing to Taylor!!

But you go ahead keep banking on emulating Hopkins' career path as a way to the top.

Of course Golovkin wants the belts. But if he can get Canelo to fight him for the WBC and lineal titles, at 160lbs, just by waiting another 6 months, he'd be crazy to turn that down.

He only cares when there isn't step aside money available.

Even if Ward loses to Kovalev and Golovkin beats Canelo

He is not going to jump over both Kovalev and Gonzalez to the p4p no 1

If Ward beat Kovalev I would rank him at No1.

Kovalev beating Ward wouldn't impress me as much though.
i agree, i think in this case if any of the underdogs wins could get more credit than the ones are favorite... there are a few different scenarios that could change the top of the P4P list... 2016 could be a great year for boxing ..

              • Believe it or not but the x-factor is Pascal

If Pascal pulls off the upset (which is not too far-fetched) Kovalev will be removed as no 2 p4p simultaneously leaving Ward stuck in oblivion unable to prove he's worthy of p4p supremacy

With Kov and Ward out of the picture that would leave only Gonzalez in GGG's way to claim the p4p throne

In other words you little g-strings better be cheering for "the 4-round fighter" to win lmaO

Pascal landed more clean punches on Kovalev than his previous 5 opponents put together, but Kathy Duva seems to be looking right past him towards fights with Stevenson and Ward later next year.

If JDJ and Kovalev himself are doing the same thing, we could see a huge upset.

Anything is possible, as you just proved by saying something sensible in a GGG related thread.

On every list he is higher than Ward, Canelo, Cotto, etc.

You really think beating Canelo won't put him up there. Let's see then.

Especially after beating Lee and unifying all four MW titles.

Who ever looks the best out of Kov. / Ward and Canelo / GGG will be #1. If one goes 12 rounds and the other doesn't they will be #1.

                    • Whoever KO's their opponent 1st will be ranked P4P #1.
