Comments Thread For: Frankie Gomez-Hank Lundy Possible For February 6th

Golden Boy Promotions is planning the 2016 debut of Frankie Gomez (19-0, 13KOs) on February 5th at the Fantasy Springs Casino in Indio, California. And they have a fight in mind for 'the Pitbull' - veteran Hank Lundy.

Robert Diaz, matchmaker for GBP explained to BoxingScene.com - "With Frankie the talent is there, we believe in Frankie. The fight with Humberto Soto was going to be a very tough test, obviously for the reasons we all know it didn't happen, but we can't sit back and wait."

Sounds like an interesting matchup. Would it be an undercard to soto karass-kamegai or would it headline its own card?

        Make It Happen Golden Boy

I have about had it hearing everyone from Golden Boy and Freddie Roach and his crew telling everyone that Frankie Gomez should be a World Champion.

This guys needs a fighter like Hank Lundy that will push him to the limit and not back down. Hank Lundy is not a fighter that anyone should take lightly and I hope he tests Frankie's will both physically and mentally. Because everyone knows Hank Lundy doesn't back down from no one.

Frankie Gomez better get in shape and be ready. I know Frankie Gomez is supremely gifted and talented but someone needs to figure out a way to get through to him quick, fast, and in a hurry before he ends up being like Panchito Bojado. A guy who never reached his potential in the sport because he could never get out of his own way.

Golden Boy is banking on Frankie Gomez for the future of there company and he has been given numerous chances. But eventually those chances will run out. THERE ARE NO MORE EXECUSES FOR YOU FRANKIE GOMEZ!!! Your shot on being on HBO you lost because you couldn't make weight and your opportunity instead went to Antonio Orozco and he capitalized. I hope that burned a flame inside of you.

What the point of keeping this kid at 140 if he can't make it?

Very tough fight for Gomez, but a winnable one. I also think he should just move up to 147 already instead of lurking around 140 in hopes of making the divisional limits again someday. He's a Full fledged WW imo and should just make it official.

Sounds like a great fight but I doubt Gomez can make that weight in a month and a half. Freddie recently said that Gomez hasn't been in the gym since cotto's camp ended.

Best train wreck fight would be Gomez vs Mike Alvarado

I wonder how many hours Frankie is going to log on the stationary bike.

Didn't they say for the Soto fight his walking around weight was 200~?

Is it too early to call this guy a bust?
What a disappointment this kid has been.
