What a disappointment this kid has been.

It's getting to that point. I mean think about it from this perspective he had a chance to be the Co Main Event on HBO on the Canelo/Kirkland undercard. His fight Soto would have been after the replay of Mayweather/Pac fight.

And he blew it big time. Couldn't make the weight. Made Golden Boy look foolish and pissed HBO off in the mean time. He didn't even tell Golden Boy about the weight until the week of the fight, which he should have so they could found a replacement fight. Prospects would have killed to get that kind of opportunity, and this guy seems to not care at all.

Guessing GBP's contract runs out in a year. It seems pretty clear Gomez lacks focus, right now or just in general. Talking about how he "should be fighting for a title by the end of next year" when he's still just 23 seems like some sort of forced deadline to me when he didn't fight for about 15 months last year & is coming in 10lbs above his best fighting weight lately.

Rooting for Gomez to get his **** together next year. Been a fan of him since he was a amateur & I honestly expected him to be into much bigger things by this point in his career & think he's still capable of big things.

Very tough fight for Gomez, but a winnable one. I also think he should just move up to 147 already instead of lurking around 140 in hopes of making the divisional limits again someday. He's a Full fledged WW imo and should just make it official.

He's not a Welterweight. That was proven when he couldn't hurt Jorge Silva one bit in his last fight. He's just a lazy f**k that doesn't train. If he gave even 75% effort in training he should be able to make 140 easily.

I think its a lil early. He's still 23. He's clearly effed up some **** & made himself look highly unprofessional & like a guy not taking his career seriously, but I don't see things as having reached the bust stage...yet. This time next year might be a different story.

This is a good fight. Lundy is a big jump up in competition so we will learn a lot about Gomez. Kid obviously has all the talent. It's the maturity and dedication that's the question mark.
