And they don't need to take paycuts. Haymon has already paid most of his guys so much money that they are locked under contract for years now because theyve already hit earnings benchmarks. He could make his guys fight tough fights tomorrow for the same money he gives them to fight bums right now -- and if they said no, Haymon could just say, "OK stay on the shelf till you get with my program then"

I don't want fighters to get screwed obviously but too many guys want zero-risk mega-paydays these days and don't want to fight any real competition EVER.

I secretly love the way Bob Arum doesn't take any ****. Mikey Garcia was gonna get over $1 million to fight Gamboa (who he would've destroyed) and Chavez Jr. was going to get $8 million (minimum) to fight Triple G.

That's MORE THAN FAIR wages. But both those little b*tches got greedy so Bob put them on the shelf for a LONG time and ruined their careers, a fate they both deserved.

If Haymon gave two ****s about giving the fans the fights they want, he'd force these fights whether his guys wanted them or not. But his goal isn't to please the fans, it's to get every elite talent in the sport to say, "**** I gotta go sign with Haymon I can make big bucks for knocking over low grade opposition" in an attempt to create a monopoly in the sport.
154 pisses me off so much right now....look at all the names they have there, and only one person wants to do anything and that's Jrock. They had Trout fly out to commentate his last fight against Cuello to build up...then no go.

        Hate that division right now

There no question Garcia is correct. I mean no boxing fan is gonna do much for you when you are 53 years old & broke except maybe buy you a beer so you gotta make the best of it while you can based on your best options & your best belief in what the best long term move is along your road.

Having said that saying **** like this isn't gonna endure you to the fans either so while we all kinda knew this was Garcia's take (& other cats too, hell probably most cats with a name) he maybe should leave these sorta opinions out of the interviews he does cuz there is gonna be way more negativity over saying things like this than there is gonna be positive **** said over things like this.

Although tbh I question Garcia's & his team's business decisions in that they didn't more aggressively go after a Mayweather fight post-Matthysse when he was on the short list & mighta been at or near the top of it at that point as most were highly impressed with Garcia's best win performance & he was at his highest point in boxing (he's since fallen off fairly nicely).

Boricua181 : to dumb Mexicans who don't know history

If you don't know anything about history, just keep your mouth shut. Puerto Ricans have been beating Mexicans up in boxing for a long time now. Even though they come from such a small island, they produce more champions in proportion to their population. They are better technicians, and have just as much heart if not more than other fighters from different countries.

I love when these guys spell out the sales pitch that Haymon feeds to them. Very revealing.

Garcia hit the nail on the head. its a powerful business part involved in this sport. once a fighter signs the contract to get paid. you go in there and fight. thats what fighters do. when the fight is over. where's my check.

Explain how Haymon can force fighters to fight each other? No other promoter can force fighters to fight each other so I don't get how Haymon can do something nobody else can get their own fighters to do.

Also its not Haymon not matching these guys up with bums as his preferred choice. Its the fighters themselves, trainers or managers. It has already been said multiple times by different people. Haymon will match any fighter he has tough if that is what is what they want. If Haymon could force fighters to fight I doubt we would be seeing Keith Thurman duck Shawn Porter right now.

Haymon is the easy target but sometimes gotta look at the whole picture and listen to what is being said and by whom.
