WBC Heavyweight title: Open negotiations start Jan 18, end in 30 days

Of course they could "extend" it.

Still no idea why October was the targeted date for the free negotiation period though... it was announced it would be October 2 days before Wilder/Guy he fought in June.

After Bermane Stiverne of Canada won the vacant WBC heavyweight title, he was required by the WBC rules to make two mandatory title defenses. The first, against No. 1 ranked Deontay Wilder of the United States, was held on January 17. Wilder won the title by unanimous decision over twelve. The second mandatory challenger was Bryant Jennings, but he took another fight instead against Wladimir Klitschko, so the WBC approved a final eliminator between No. 2 ranked Alexander Povetkin of Russia and No. 4 ranked Mike Perez of Cuba/Ireland to determine the second mandatory challenger.

Wait and see if it actually happens

I can't wait until this fight is ordered.

Wilder will either face his destruction or vacate and fight tit's Arreola who just got a gift win.

Was watching Povetkin/Wach...man....he's gonna be explosive and rip shots all over Wilder. The sooner this happens the better, but will probably go to purse bid. Wilder probably gonna vacate if Povetkin wins though

The Povetkin fight is going to happen. I don't know why people think it won't. I also don't know why people think Wilder will vacate as it will be the biggest payday of his career. Povetkin was the one chose another fight for November instead of waiting until January. I think Povetkin will take him out but Wilder has done nothing wrong. The next negotiating period starts Jan 18 after Wilder fights Szplika. That is 3 nice voluntary paydays for Wilder. Povetkin will happen in the spring.

Why people don't think it's gonna happen? Because what if he loses the purse bid and has to go to Russia? I could definitely see them pulling out of that.

Look at Quillin/Korobov, and then Garcia/Postol and Stiverne/Wilder purse bids were continually postponed/extended until their side got what they want.

These Russians don't give a damn and are looking forward to outbidding Al... and I don't think he feels like putting 15+ million up to hold this on PBC while the Russians are going to put up more and put on an event in Russia

75/25 split for Wilder. The Russians may come to the states anyway. Povetkin has fought there before. Everyone recognizes Fury as the real champion so Wilder without a belt has no leverage. It makes no sense to vacate.
