That is all they have right now, but then they'll at least have free reign on opponents instead of doing their last ditch opponent search, offering fights to old and low rated Briggs and Mansour and Adamek.

They're pretty much nothing without the belt though...but I think the idea of losing bid and going to Russia doesn't sit well with them

He sure will. The WBC rules state a Champion should strive to defend his title every 3 months. Wilder has been doing that. If Povetkin wouldn't had scheduled a fight in November (he was told in June that negotiations were to begin in October then he announced his November fight in August) and told the WBC he wouldn't be ready until April or May, he would be fighting Wilder in Jan. Just because he isn't ready for the fight doesn't mean Wilder is going to wait around 7-8 months doing nothing.

Real fair for Povetkin to sit idle while Wilder fights all these bums

              What's over is over.

              Jan 18 barring any extensions.

Just be happy it isn't 5 months again

That's Povetkin's choice, and it's not the first time he's delayed a fight while being the mandatory. He did it with Wlad also. He chose to schedule a fight in November after the WBC told him in June that negotiation period starts in October. He chose to tell the WBC, before his fight with Wach, that he wouldn't be ready until April or May. The only reason the fight is taking so long is because of Povetkin who has a history of doing this type of stuff. Your personal opinion regarding Wilder doesn't change the facts. Povetkin is delaying. He probably needs to cycle
