I am a big fan and I enjoy his commentating and fights.
I believe that Roy is one of those people who simply loves his sport and fighting in general. Money may (or may not) be an issue for him. But I think even if its not, he simply loves to fight and loves this sport. Some elder retired people have their golf, traveling or gardening. Roy loves to box.
And I respect that.
But damn... We are worried. Its awful to see him get hurt like these so often.
Get well Roy - and dont risk yourself out there for too long...

I understand that he decided to never retired but if he's gonna keep fighting no matter what can't he at least get a realistic view of his own limits? You can't keep fighting bigger fighters who are decent punchers when your reflexes are gone, your legs are gone and your punch resistance is gone.
Can't he at least fight guys at his own current level or slightly below it? Why does he feel the need to step up to guys he clearly can't handle?
Keep fighting 12-10 guys and beat them, go on a bum of the month run in different Russian cities, it's a huge country, he would get decent money and the attention he craves.
After the third Tarver fight Jones said "Why should i retire when i can beat anyone except Tarver i'll keep fighting". He can keep fighting but he should keep fighting guys he can beat. At least that's not indirect suicide.

The sad thing is he won't be able to keep the HBO job if he keeps this up, so there goes his post-fighting career.

RJJ needs to learn defence if he is to carry on. Because he holds his hands high yet the punches still get through. RJJ has got a middleweight chin yet hes fighting cruiserweights.
Im not sure the punches landed on him would have ko'ed guys like BH. Its just RJJ is so fragile now in the wiskers department not that it was that strong in his prime its just you couldn't hit him much when he was young.

Then his next fight RJJ goes back to his old style thinking he's a young guy and not following the instructions of his trainer when he fought that Polish guy. So him and Tom had a falling out. Then he switches trainers again and goes back to his old style.
Roy is just stubborn and doesn't want to accept or adapt his style with his older age and decline. The thing is everybody knows what he's going to do now, and his bad knees/punch resistance got guy's beating him that would of never beating him pre the weight drop.

He is doing it for the money. That is why he chased Calzaghe for a payday and was pursuing UFC promoter Dana White for a payday in the octagon for a showdown with Anderson Silva before he got injured.
In addition, have you ever heard of bad investments? Also, he may have trusted the wrong people who may have taken advantage of him and mismanaged his money.
All you have to do is research and look it up for your self, it happens almost all the time with former boxers with careers spanning more than 20 years or so in which they have nothing to show for it.
Moreover, that HBO commentary job is only a part-time gig. He is not making anywhere near the money he was when he was in his prime on HBO, when he was demanding at least a whopping $5 million licensing fee per fight fighting those cab drivers.
